okay continuing to be normal about watt today. going to go What Would All The Girls Assumed Motives Be (not that one of them did it or that IDK isn't a fabulous song, they touch on many of my points in it) (but i just think. full blown murder investigation. what would people think) (some of these are going to be realllll stereotype-y. sorry, kate. girlie you didn't do it i know you're a multifaceted woman and more than your lesbianism)
the important thing is. people in universe don't necessarily know the order in which they're killed, besides that Clark was after Farrah (if/when Reese admits it)
Reese: She's killed Clark. What's two more? Her killing Clark could've been because he walked in on her finishing the job on Farrah, and most people don't pay attention to her: it's very clearly easy for her to sneak away without people noticing.
Kate: The accusation thrown around the whole musical: Kate's in love with Chess. Chess and Farrah hated each other, she could've killed Farrah "for" Chess and then killed Chess when Chess was (understandably) horrified by that statement or said she didn't return Kate's feelings.
Annleigh: maybe Farrah and Clark were sleeping together. Annleigh could've "gotten rid of" Chess in an attempt to bond with Farrah one last time, to make a safe space for her step sister. But walking in on her boyfriend (fiance?) and step sister in the bathroom could've made her snap and kill both of them. (Notably, this works best if Reese hasn't confessed to Clark's involuntary manslaughter yet)
Cairo: Cairo hated Farrah, and Cairo has feelings for Kate that're all incredibly negative (read: she hates Kate). Not knowing of Chess' and Kate's falling out, she could've killed Chess in an attempt to get Kate off the team, since it's been made very clear that Kate's only there to hang out with her friend. And Cairo killing Farrah? She hates Farrah, simply put.
Mattie: The freshman is drunk, and uncomfortable, and under so much pressure. It makes sense she'd snap! Farrah's water bottle was the instigator for her drunkenness, and Chess was the person whose presence was making the room so uncomfortable, she could've just wanted the team to be as welcoming as possible, so. She Snaps.
Riley: this girl has imposed so much pressure on herself she's just about to snap. She wants the team to be perfect, and her best friend is bringing down the mood– she yells at her for that, why wouldn't she snap on the two people who keep fighting, who keep backsliding into addictions. She just wants the team to be respected. She's worked so hard! Also, this is her house. She knows how to navigate it, and she knows how to navigate it quietly.
Eva: Yeah no she wouldn't. She was just there to serve pizza :( (But, if you want a nearly entirely constructed motive: Eva could've wanted to get rid of the team that was making a mockery of cheerleading)
Clark: He just wants Annleigh to be happy, and Farrah (and by extension Chess) absolutely are doing to opposite of that. He's already broken into the house, why couldn't he have done so to find and get rid of farrah and chess? annleigh finds him in the kitchen, after all, where all the possible murder weapons are kept.
Chess and Farrah: One of them could've killed the other, but both of them couldn't have killed each other: Chess, being outside, and Farrah, being in the bathroom, would not have been able to travel so far in such a short amount of time from either of the places—especially without trailing blood all over riley's home.
