i know i've been pretty quiet but here's the result of my January: a totally handmade, fully-functional marionette created for a local winter-themed puppet show. she's called the Winter Maw & she'll eat you alive, just like real winter
By Ezra Rose on Bluesky.
EDIT: And more!
a few more shots - no video, sadly, since i was rushing to get her to the show, but she has a working jaw, can tilt her head, & her arms are controlled with a separate hinged hand bar. she floats really eerily & overall i'm very pleased with how she came out!
I fucking love this fucked-up thing.
The Whitney Wolverine was an American made semi automatic pistol, originally produced between 1956 and 1958.[3] The Wolverine was thought to have been almost "space-age" in its design (still considered futuristic by modern standards), being manufactured from aluminium.[3]

As one poster put it: If elves made guns, these would be their guns.
"✨Strange✨" by Abigail J. Harding This is a Doctor Strange I want to write stories about.
EDIT: Another one! WOW!
EDIT 2: MOAR!
Sometimes a Wild God
Sometimes a wild god comes to the table. He is awkward and does not know the ways Of porcelain, of fork and mustard and silver. His voice makes vinegar from wine.
When the wild god arrives at the door, You will probably fear him. He reminds you of something dark That you might have dreamt, Or the secret you do not wish to be shared.
He will not ring the doorbell; Instead he scrapes with his fingers Leaving blood on the paintwork, Though primroses grow In circles round his feet.
You do not want to let him in. You are very busy. It is late, or early, and besides… You cannot look at him straight Because he makes you want to cry.
(Here's the rest.)
An amazing poem by Tom Hirons. Reading found on Instagram.
I ended up going down a rabbit hole of "organic/biogenic gemstones" this week. So, let's look at what I found! Starting with...
Opalized Fossils (aka Opal Replaced Fossils)
Bones, teeth, shells and plant material turned to opal, embedded in the ancient claystone and preserved, like the gemstones, for 100 million years under a thin veneer of sediment. [source]
Pyritized Fossils
Pyrite—often called “Fool’s Gold”—is an iron sulfide mineral that, under rare geochemical conditions, can coat or even replace prehistoric organisms, transforming them into luminous, gold-toned fossils. These pyritized fossils are among nature’s most striking creations, uniting chemistry, time, and artistry in a single form. [source]
Ammolite
It is made of the fossilized shells of ammonites, which in turn are composed primarily of aragonite, the same mineral contained in nacre, with a microstructure inherited from the shell. It is one of few biogenic gemstones; others include amber and pearl. [source]
Agatized Coral Geodes
Agatized Coral forms when silica replaces the original calcium carbonate skeleton of a coral colony. This replacement process creates beautiful specimens with cave-like appearances. [source]
Amazing! And though I'm not a gemstone person, I really want some now!!
Which one is your favorite? 😍
