Thunder Bird Hills: Suzuka Mountains Pt. 02

Here is the second part of the Thunder Bird Hills Suzuka Mountains series.

These images show Kei and his FAST Pack EDC in action. I love his pack set up with the OP1 in a matching colour and his other pouches in MultiCam, including a ITS Skeletonized Bottle Holder. I also like his Ghostbuster patch and gold snow-shoes that brings a real contrast to his otherwise subdued look.

Fast Pack Friday: 2015

So after a break over the holiday season, we're back. We've got a good stock of posts building up and a great year of reviews and other features planned. This is going to be a good year…

To kick it all off, I thought I'd get our Fast Pack Friday feature (too many f words?) back up and running. This is also a little preview of the Ranger Hoodie that we'll be releasing the Recon for early this year.

Fast Pack Friday

Fast Pack Friday is finally back after taking a break for the giveaway.

Here is a great collection of packs owned by Scott Pierce. Down in front we have a Foliage Green FAST Pack Litespeed next to a Pelican case. Behind that is a Black FAST Pack EDC. Each of these carrying devises are sporting stickers or patches from Prometheus Design Werx and MOTUS. There's another patch in there that is classified, so I won't mention that!

In the background are a collection of bags that I've been really interested in trying out, called the Exploro that a friend recommended to me. You can check them out here. I've seriously only heard the highest praise for these bags, so they are definitely worth a look.

Fast Pack Friday: Inspired

I've chosen a bunch of images from the Triple Aught Design site that include packs and have provoked me, but the real idea behind this post is to inspire an active lifestyle. This is as much a message to myself as it is to you all.

It's often easy to focus too heavily on our equipment rather than the actual activities we 'need' the gear for. My wife (who always brings brilliant and much needed perspective to my life) helped me realise how far my perspective had shifted from the lifestyle to the gear. I'm so grateful for how she sharpens me and I love her to bits because of it.

So to remind myself of this lesson and to pass on what I've learned, let me end with this:

Don't forget only real reason for buying outdoor gear, and get outdoors. I will endeavour to do the same.

Fast Pack Friday: Frazier Damon – Pack Configuration

I got in touch with Frazier Damon (we've previously featured his pack here and here) when I heard reconfiguring his pack, and asked if he could detail how he went about it. Above shows his Fast Pack EDC and pouches all laid out ready to be set up and next to it his finished pack.

Here are his notes on his configuration:

Above: OP1 on the Beavertail. S1 and BC4 on top MOLLE row. Web dominator to help lock the Beavertail up. Glow zipper pull replacements (below).

Gear retractor in the cave pocket.

One great feature on this pack is the sleeping bag straps on the bottom of the pack came with buckles, something my Litespeed didn't have.

BC8 and SERE on the right side top.

Cobra knot on grab handle.

ITS/Zulu skeleton bottle holder and ITS Liberty bottle on left side top.

Replaced the stock buckle on the waist strap with an ITW cobra buckle.

S2 and iComm on shoulder straps.

RDDP1 on right side waist strap.

GPP1 on left side waist strap.
