You’ll Research a BBL But Not Your Son’s Future?

This is a story

which does not begin with a

“Once upon a time”

It’s a little boy

of a darker complexion

who grew up screwed up

Now cues the female

A motherly figure walks

in calling her son

“Son, can you come here?

We need to talk about you

skipping school today.”

She continues on

to say: “your teachers told me

your grades are slipping.”

“You’re dipping into

so much trouble it is

disappointing me.”

“Not to mention the

fact that you are on the verge

of being expelled.”

“What’s the matter, son?”

And as the son begins to

look at his mother,

tears pour from his eyes

like a collapsed water pipe

inside a storm drain.

He replies to her,

“Mother, the kids have bullied

me much everyday.”

“To my dismay, I’m

taunted as a buffoon is

for entertainment.”

The mother asked “Why?”

The son says “because I do

not have a father.”

He looks to her and

says, “Where is my father at?”

She now starts to sigh.

But calmly she tells

him, “Your father abandoned

us when you were born.”

He then asked her “Why?”

She said “because your father

was not ready yet.”

“Ready for what?, he

replied. And the mother said,

“Ready for your birth.”

She explained further, 

“He was afraid to raise you

because of his past.”

The son asks, “What past?”

She replies, “that his dad left 

him when he was born.”

The son then asked mom, 

“Did he say that he loved me

before I was born?”

Mother responded, 

“Yes, he said he loved you while

you were in my womb.”

“That was the time that

your father was happy, but

left after your birth.”

And as her son nods,

His head turns to the ceiling

and he speaks to God.

The son says to God:

“Lord, where art thou my father?

I pray he is safe.”

“Please hear my prayer

I pray that he is alive, 

so I could meet him.”

“I also pray Lord

that he will remember me

as I am growing.”

“For mother and he

to work all of their problems

and love each other.”

“And finally Lord, 

I pray that he will return

and unite with us.”

“We will forgive him, 

We can be a family 

again, forever.”

Mom and son embrace

with a hug and say, “Amen”

Now the story ends.

“...children from fatherless homes are 

more likely to be poor, become involved in 

drug and alcohol abuse, drop out of school,

 and suffer from health and emotional problems. 

Boys are more likely to become involved in crime,

 and girls are more likely to become pregnant as teens.”
