Fanfiction Work-In-Progress Guessing Game: “hug”

aww…damn i haven’t actually written that many hugs in either of my wips i’m ashamed of myself. but umm here’s a nice (platonic) keith & allura hug from altea rising. :’‘)

Keith scratched the back of his neck, searching for words. He felt like he should say something else, something comforting, but he didn’t know where to even begin.

“Look, uh … I understand what you’re going through. Kind of. I also lost my parents––although, I was so young I don’t actually remember them. But, um. I also moved around from home to home a lot as a kid, and I know it’s scary to feel like you don’t belong anywhere, or that you’re totally alone.

“But you’re not. Alone, I mean. You have us and Coran and … yeah. We’ll all be here for you.”

He hadn’t looked up the whole time he’d spoken. He’d been staring down at his lap, acutely aware of how his face was burning. Probably none of what he’d said was comforting at all.

But when he dared to look up, he was surprised to see that Allura’s eyes were shining with tears.

She didn’t say anything, just surged forward and hugged him.

POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective::: for Slipping Underneath!!! That is one of my favorite fics tbh, enough to that I sent it to someone to read. Seeing Tsukki so giddy and blissful in the last chapter make me more happy than I had all that week. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next with them! And uh... does Kuroo actually know about sirens? He must over heard about the soulmate thing with dreadful singing...

Kuroo wasn’t a stranger to physical intimacy. Evenwith his friends, it came naturally to him to be touchy-feely. A shoulder squeezehere, and hug or two there, the usual. He never thought much of it.

With Tsukishima, the difference was vast.

A brush of fingers when they both went to lift up abowling ball, the feeling of Tsukishima in his arms as he led him through theswinging motions…

He’d hardly held the blond’s hand yet and he felt likesome nerdy middle schooler on a first date. It was humiliating, and he wasdefinitely staring too much (how was Tsukishima so perfect?). He’d thought thatbowling would be enough to distract him, but the weird pull he felt around theblonde proved too powerful. Not that he was complaining.

Ten years had probably been added to his life justfrom seeing Tsukishima laugh and smile openly. It was all too much for Kurooalready, but the hug is what made him short circuit.

Kuroo watched as the pins fell one by one, his handsautomatically rising in disbelief at the triumph. He turned towards Tsukishimaat the same moment the blonde moved to face him, and something just clicked.

Autopilot was a strong motherfucker when combined withthe biggest crush ever. So it made sense when Kuroo scooped Tsukishima into hisarms victoriously, twirling him once.

The heat flooded into his cheeks, and his sensesscreamed at him. Everything from how warm Tsukishima was to how good he smelled;Kuroo was aware of all of it in an instant.

Kuroo’s heart exploded, which kind of defeated thewhole ten years thing, but screw it. Tsukishima was in his arms, and in thatmoment, nothing could be better.
