30 Day WoW Challenge: Day 04

Hmmm... Keep in mind- I've only every played post-Cata. So I don't know what happened before Deathwing fucked up everything.
But! The story in Westfall was so cool.
Starting off the zone with the murder mystery, playing detective, and to see firsthand the rise of the Defias Brotherhood and the emergence of Vanessa VanCleef? Oh man. Really nice. Redridge wasn't bad either. And NOTHING compares to the epic ending of Bloodmyst Isle as a Draenei (but everything before that awesome ending is pure hell). However, Westfall was a really nice story to play through. The grimy underside of Stormwind.
Definitely has to be Netherstorm. It was just so cool. I mean, between Area 52, the Consortium, Tempest Keep, and just... the questline. I really dug the look of the zone and I felt so bad-ass there questing on my lock. It was pitch perfect.
It's so close! I'm super torn between Dragonblight and Icecrown
But while Icecrown is obviously huge and just the oh so satisfying end to the Lich King and all his evil, I still love all the lore and stories that I learned in Dragonblight. I think because I started in Cata, it seemed so much more relevant- this is the background that I needed to understand the Aspects and what the fuck was up with Deathwing. I got to check out each shrine, talk to Chromie some more- hey girl- and generally feel very cool as my little gnome got her strut on amongst Alexstraza and Ysera. It was a great leveling experience.
I think this goes without saying. With the huge lore lovefest that it offers, it's Mt. Hyjal
Don't get me wrong- Uldum was amazing, but the Harrison Jones thing was too much a part of the zone- I liked the Ramkahen a bit more, and overall it felt very disjointed. Vashj'ir is... Hrgmmm. And Twilight Highlands had high points.
But Mt. Hyjal... It had a sense of urgency. And the phasing really helped me get in this mindset that I was totally helping. I could see the fruit of my efforts and it was so rewarding to beat back those thirsty fire elementals and retake the mountain. The story was so well-woven... It was a great start to the end game experience for me. Very fabulous.
Well, that was a long trip down memory lane. Just writing this reminded me how much I love those zones. Arghhh, I need my alts to level faster. Lol
