11. Favorite canon ship?

Kyoru!

It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that Kyo and Tohru are my favorite canon ship! Their love is aspirational, selfless, and true. In my opinion, the dynamic Kyo and Tohru have are what we should all look for in our partners. I love them so much and think about them, honestly, every day. They’re the one true OTP for me.

12. Favorite non-canon ship?

Uo/Hana!

What can I even say? They’re Tohru’s best friends and surrogate parents. They seem to know and trust one another implicitly, and they’re always together. How could anyone see them and not want them together? They just make sense. I like to imagine they did get together, in the end.

13. Favorite friendship/non-romantic relationship?

Kyo and Kazuma!

Kazuma is the best parent in the entire series. His love for his son is pure, and he gave Kyo the foundation of love and kindness and respect that he deserved. The relationship they have is healthy and special, and I’m always glad when I see their interactions together. Plus Kyo gets so boyish and cute when his dad’s around. It’s charming!

I so appreciate all the practice these questions have brought me, so please feel free to ask as many questions as you like! I’m having a lot of fun. And thank you so much for the lovely compliment! It means a lot. That said, I answered question #4 in this post, so I’ll go ahead with 1-3.

1. How were you introduced to the series?

I stumbled upon Fruits Basket on Youtube back when I was in middle school. I raced through the series in a summer and then got into the manga afterwards. There were many tears. And yeah, I really did watch the show on my laptop balanced on my couch while I ate and cried on the floor lol.

2. Who is your favorite character?

Kyo!

I love him so much I could cry. He embodies a lot of the struggle I experience every day, and made it out of crippling self-loathing and anger to be a happier, kinder, more mature version of himself. There’s infinitely more I could say about him, but suffice it to say I adore him most of all.

3. Who are your least favorite character(s)?

These two.

I had to put up with a lot of abuse as a kid and I am horrified at the thought of hurting other people, so I do not like Akito at all. I still find them interesting, however. Also, Kureno lacks a backbone and a willingness to (ever) do the right thing, so he can kick rocks.
