Feanorian Week 2026 Day 2
Day 2 - Maglor, Redemption
Summary: Assistance is given to Twins indecisive about Valinor.
Note: Tolkien did not give any of these characters endings. So I’m taking liberties here to tie up some loose strings.

I have opted for no Beta again. They can be surprised too.
Note: All of them will be posted in the one post. Start of them all is here: Feanorian Week 2026
Once again, fairly short, so I'm also posting it all here:

Elladan held up the letter for his brother. “Cirdan sends greetings.”
Elrohir narrowed his eyes at his brother. “I could read that myself. So what else is in the letter?”
“He says the boats are few. He can feel the pull of Valinor.”
Elladan sighed. “Arwen is not yet gone.”
“She also insisted we return to our parents!” Elrohir frowned. “She even gave us that portrait of Eldarion and his sisters, to pass on.”
Elladan snorted at his brother. “What if she's alone?"
“Has she ever been? She chose this life, Elladan. She's been happy in this life. When the boats leave we will fade. Nanath and adar will lose all their children.” Elrohir had pleaded this many times.
“There are still others.”
“Elladan, who? Celeborn has gone to Thranduil. He hopes to convince him to be on the last boat. Celeborn promised Nanath that he would see her in Valinor, so he will be there. The great librarian, Meriadoc Brandybuck, went to Gondor years ago now. The last letter was from an assistant, telling of his passing.”
“I promised Arwen to not leave her alone!” Elladan shouted. “When Aragon is gone, who then will be with her?”
“We are all that's left of Imladris. We should go!”
“Not all!” Elladan shouted. “There is that wretched elf that came not two years ago. Who speaks of adar as if he knew him. He still remains!"
Elladan had not noticed that very elf sitting in the shade, until he stood.
“Maglor.” the elf stated. “My name is Maglor.”
“They rule Gondor?” Maglor confirmed again, as they travelled towards it.
Elledan nodded. “Are you truly not returning to Valinor?”
“There is nothing for me there.”
“Adar is.” Elrohir added.
“He is the one thing I am proud of in my life.” He reached over from his horse, and stroked Elrohir’s cheek. “You look so much like him. Both of you.”
“You promise Arwen will not be alone? After Estel dies, if she is not first. You will stay with her.”
Maglor nodded. “I promise. I owe this to Elrond.”
Elrohir frowned. “What do you own him?”
“I owe him the safe return of his sons, and much more.”
Elladan’s horse stopped, as the city came into view.
Maglor gasped audibly. “Introduce me as Makalaurë, please. I do not wish stories of the first age to taint your sister’s opinion of me.”
“M…” Elrohir started, “Makalaurë, are you certain?”
He nodded. “This is my path to redemption. I will be with Arwen until the end. She will not die alone, though I will insist I am not recorded in the histories.” He gave a comforting smile to Elrohir. “We do not truly know what fading means for us. Perhaps we also pass through The Halls, as the Sindar once did. Regardless, tell your adar I love him still. And I will see Arwen safe.”
Elrohir nodded, finally accepting this. Together the twins escorted the last of the first age elves to the city of men. After a time they farewelled their sister and her family and set sail for Valinor. Somewhere in the near future Elrond would receive a letter from his foster-father and there would be peace in his heart.
