Pink feather...I'm guessing it's a flamingo feather. But there were lots of exotic birds in the avery.
I wanted to put it in my pocket sooooo bad. Even the shaft is pink!

Feather Magick
Feathers are used in spellwork and rituals for change and to help focus concentration. Feathers from different birds yield different connotations as well each each individual color having it’s own meaning as well.
They are said to be symbols of spirit giving you signs. With their connection to wings as a spiritual metaphor, feathers represent a strong celestial connection to the Heavenly realms (”Feathers appear when Angels are Near”). It is a cosmic way of saying hello, momentarily transporting you above time and space.
Since Feathers have a connection to birds and a bird’s wings can symbolize freedom, feathers represent the aforementioned and a spritual journey or quest.
Key Qualities:
Truth
Speed
Spirit
Travel
Heaven
Levity
Flight
Messages
Ascension
Fertility
Elemental Correspondence:
Feathers’ Elemental correspondence and Ruler is Air, however due to so many connections to spirituality as well, I would also associate Feathers as having connections to Spirit as well.
Feathers as signs:
You can use feathers to answer the questions you seek provided you are being specific about it. Take care in looking for signs that your question has been answered, as in seeing a feather and having the desire to pick it up, or one falling right in front of you. It may be as obvious as seeing feathers on your doorstep or in your home. Take note of the type of feather it is and the color.
Color Correspondences:
White: Crown Chakra, purity, innocence, purification, cleansing, hope, trust, faith, protection, peace, angels.
Red: Root Chakra, money, stability, strength, courage, good fortune, security, passion, emotions.
Blue: Throat Chakra, communication, speaking your truth, peace and calm, acceptance, inspiration, mental abilities, spritual protection, psychic awareness.
Yellow: Solar plexus Chakra, gut intuition, playfulness, intelligence, energy, vision.
Green: Heart Chakra, love, emotion, relationships, compassion, foregiveness, nature, environment, growth, fertility, plant magic, plant spirits, money, abundance, prosperity.
Orange: Sacral Chakra, sex, intimacy, attraction, energy, change, optimism, ambition, success, willpower, creativity, independence.
Pink: Unconditional love, romance, friendship, feelings, harmony, honor, inspiration, caring, compassion, kindness.
Purple: Crown Chakra, universal consciousness, spiritual connection, higher thought, opening up of the psychic senses, deep spirituality.
Brown: Earth, grounding, stability, enduance, home life, respect, friendship.
Grey: Peace and neutrality, authenticity, flexibility, wisdom, you are on the right track (sign),
Black: Protection, warning, repelling of negative energy (banishing), death (closing of a chapter, end of something), mystical wisdom, magic, spiritual growth & initiation (sign).
Color Combinations:
Black and White: Protection, symbolism of a union (think Yin-Yang).
Black and purple: Deep spirituatity, a very great mystical sign.
Brown and Black: The balance between the spiritual and physical planes.
Brown and White: Happiness, and prevention of psychic or other harm.
Red and Green: Assistance financially. A very lucky sign.
Grey and White: Hope.
By Bird:
Peacock: Once thought to bring bad luck because of the ‘eye’ on it’s feather and the connection to the Evil Eye, but now seen as a symbol of beauty.
Blue Jay: Bringer of light and joy.
Crow: Used for mourning or to get rid of negative feelings or situations.
Robin: Bringing new things into one’s life.
Swan: Used to purify and cleanse. Beauty, grace and goodness. Black swan feathers can be used to purify an area of unwanted energy.
Nightengale: Communication feather, used to tap into the senses.
Eagle: Great energy bringers that remind us of the sacredness of all birds. Can drive away harmful energy.
Feather Etiquette:
Don’t harm animals in any way to get a feather. There are bound to be feathers on the ground as you walk by that have fallen off of birds. You may also buy authentic ones online as well.
Don’t culturally appropriate. Native American traditions see the feather as very symbolic to their tradition and culture. Don’t go around wearing headdresses of feathers you know nothing about. It is incredibly offensive and there are many ways you can wear feathers without it being offensive.
Make sure to clean any new feathers you may have found before use.
