GQ Korea magazine - February Issue
What are you enjoying the most these days?
Minho: I'm spending a lot of time with my family because I can't go anywhere freely. We spent Christmas and New Year together. I think it's good because I haven't done this since my debut.
When is your SNS profile picture from?
Minho: When I was three or four. I thought about this all sorts of things. Should I upload a selfie or act cool (Pretend to be cool)?
Do you remember the first compliment you heard while acting?
Minho: Well, a lot of people around me say good things, but I've never considered it a compliment. Because I think I haven't made a remarkable achievement yet.
Minho: When I debuted as SHINee, I was practicing so hard that I felt like I lacked confidence. But after the first concert, I felt less anxious and worried for the first time. I realized that there are so many fans who support me. All I could think about was doing my best.
Minho: I had a lot of time to think deeply about myself. Looking back on the past time, I remembered what I liked and felt sorry for, and I found myself not knowing well because I was working as SHINee Minho. Instead of saying that something has changed, I became more clear about myself. I found out that what I thought was an advantage could be a disadvantage, as I became clear about what I could be honest with others and what I should be careful about.
Can you tell me a song that represents SHINee's identity?
Minho: The title track of the 4th regular album 'View', was SHINee's turning point. Before that, there was a strong perception that it was a group that focused on performance, but through this song, we were able to show the musical color we were aiming for. We tried the deep house genre, which was unfamiliar to K-pop at the time, and there were concerns, but we achieved what we expected. The album with the song itself has that meaning.
What do you talk about with the members?
Minho: Since we're preparing for the album, we talk a lot about the team, SHINee's direction and hings we need to show. That's why you appeared in Taemin's waiting room on the day you were discharged from the army with the military uniform.
Minho: I ran straight from Pohang to support Taemin, all the SHINee members gathered and there were staff members who have been with us for more than 10 years. I wanted to see my friends of the army, too.
