A view of the farmhouse today at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel, #NewJersey. This fourteen room Federal-style #farmhouse was built in stages between 1775 and 1840. The site includes a Dutch barn (c. 1792) and a collection of nineteenth century outbuildings, plus a barnyard, complete with farm animals. 12.3.20 Lunchtime drawing: Not the best lighting for this photo of my sketchbook today, but here’s 70 Bedford Street in the West Village, and to research the building’s history, no problem, there’s a plaque. “About 1807 this house was built by John P. Roome sailmaker and crier of the courts of Oyer and Terminer and Gaol delivery and the general session of the peace. Although altered over the years, the original brickwork and beams remain...(and are) typical if the federal period.” I’m thinking about drawing every house on Bedford Street. /p>
