The oldest brick structure in the city, the Christopher Moross House, built in 1848, looking refined in the snow. #Detroit #Eastside #RivertownDetroit #FederalStyle #GreekRevival #EastJefferson #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #casasecasarios #houses_ofthe_world #beautifulhouseoldandnew #TheAmericanHome #houseportrait #BrickStory #Brownstoner #RawDetroit #PureMichigan #PureMittigan #MotorCityShooters #PureDetroit313 #DepictTheD #VisitDetroit #Michiganders #ThisPlaceMatters #ThisPlaceMattersDetroit #MichiganPlacesMatter (at Moross House) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs_DoZpgBV_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=sleh1hp5q5jg
9.13.18 Lunchtime drawing: These Federal Style row houses from 1825-34 at 4-10 Grove Street are favorites of mine in the West Village. Now to vote around the corner.

@maccullochhall in Morristown, #NewJersey. This 20-room Federal-style mansion was built in 1810 by George Macculloch, the father of the Morris Canal. Today, it is a museum open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The museum features the nation’s largest collection of original artwork by political cartoonist Thomas Nast. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #archi_ologie #architecture #oldhouse #oldhouselove #fabulousoldhouses #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #ushistory #americanhistory #jerseycollective #ipulledoverforthis #explorenj #morristown #morristownnj #maccullochhall #federalstyle #morriscanal #thomasnast (at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum)

A view of the farmhouse today at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel, #NewJersey. This fourteen room Federal-style #farmhouse was built in stages between 1775 and 1840. The site includes a Dutch barn (c. 1792) and a collection of nineteenth century outbuildings, plus a barnyard, complete with farm animals. The farm was purchased by Monmouth County in 1967 and opened to public in 1972. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #holmdel #holmdelnj #federalstyle #federal #travelblog #travelblogger #blog #blogger #longstreetfarm #longstreet #farm #thisisnj #jerseycollective #njspots #explorenj #igersnj #ushistory #americanhistory #architecture #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #monmouthcounty (at Historic Longstreet Farm)
12.3.20 Lunchtime drawing: Not the best lighting for this photo of my sketchbook today, but here’s 70 Bedford Street in the West Village, and to research the building’s history, no problem, there’s a plaque. “About 1807 this house was built by John P. Roome sailmaker and crier of the courts of Oyer and Terminer and Gaol delivery and the general session of the peace. Although altered over the years, the original brickwork and beams remain...(and are) typical if the federal period.” I’m thinking about drawing every house on Bedford Street. /p>
