👏👏 GRATITUDE CHALLENGE 👏👏 Day 2: 5 small things 5 small things that I am grateful for. At this stage I am finding it difficult to distinguish between big and small things, but here is my list, in no specific order: - My earphones – so I can listen to my podcasts or music while sitting with the kids. - My Bible – I got the one I am using as a gift for my 21st birthday, and through my years of trying to get into a reading habit I have used it as a diary. So, I have 10 years of feelings and events written in it that will one day go to one of my daughters. - My running shoes – because I get to go running. - My watercolour paint – I find it so relaxing to paint. I have limited talent and even less time, but still if I get a few spare minutes there is nothing I like more than to sit and paint in my bullet journal. - My kids – after 6 weeks of social isolation, I would have gone insane if it weren’t for them (not counting the fact that I am going insane because of them). With these 2 I at least have fellow human beings to interact with, and who keeps me busy. Busy body means busy mind, which means less time to fret about the future. And then in this #Covid_19SA time, also grateful for 1. Masks 2. Stickers on the floor showing where I am safe 3. Sanitiser 4. 👏👏GRATITUDE CHALLENGE👏👏 DAY 1 My body. I hate these prompts asking me to name what about my body am I most grateful for. And yet, when I worked out this challenge it was the first thing I could think of – how we should be grateful for our bodies. Of course because it carries us around, but also because it makes us strong, dependable, secure, safe. 2 things I want to mention here before I say what I am most grateful for: 1. I strongly believe we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and so our bodies are giving our souls a safe place to live 2. We are human beings, not human doings, so we need to take more time to just BE instead of finding more things to DO I am most grateful for my hands – they get to type, to catch, to do. But they also allow me to hold my kids, give encouraging pats on friends’ backs, colleagues and even strangers, they can take others’ hands, give openly, and receive. But then also – after being able to go for an actual run (not a quaranrun, thank goodness!) I am just as grateful for my legs. And the body that they are carrying around.
