Sometimes you get very tired and feel haunted and frustrated with most things. But then you pull in some enormous green beans from your garden and you sauté em with some slivered almonds, and butter, and garlic salt, and chopped onions. And you made a beautiful thing, and it’s warm and tasty and you’re proud of it and you might be okay actually.

My internet got weird last night. Today I've got more errands to run, and irritatingly enough I've got to go it alone. So I will get to replies today, it just might be kinda of spotty. Tag Bucky in things?

! Yo ok. Ninten's hat, was it a present? How in specific did he get it?? ))

OH BOY.

Now that’s a long story according to my HC but here you go:

When Ninten was a kid (like more kid than now, because now he’s only half kid kind of) and his dad was around a lot more, they used to go to a lot of baseball games and practices together. They had a lot of father-son time, and that’s pretty great. 

Then dad got an advancement and that meant more work hours and less family time, which meant less baseball games and less time spent playing catch after dinner. 

Now, there was this red and blue hat that Ninten had always wanted and pointed out to his father, but it was rather expensive at the time, and he’d wanted to pass down his own used baseball cap to Ninten because of fatherly reasons. Ninten didn’t want that hat, because he wanted something more unique. So on the night before his first day of work in his new position, Ninten’s father went out and got that red and blue hat and wrapped it up for the morning, because he’d probably be leaving early.

Ninten considers it the best gift ever and wears it all hours of the day, sometimes even when sleeping. It’s pretty much the only physical keepsake Ninten has of his father.

30 Day Tolkien Elves Challenge: 6) Did you ever cry because of an elf?

I am part of the Silmarillion Fandom. I think it would be more supprising if I have never cried because of an elf. xD

But yeah, more seriously, the answer is yes. As far as the books themselves are concerned, I watched all of my favorite characters dying one by one fighting a hopeless war. Fingolfin, Fingon, Finrod- Ai, Eru, I wept for Finrod. And each time I read that passage it only gets worse. Maglor and Maedhros I've shed tears unnumbered for. And Elrond...Elrond has been through so much.

Fittingly, much as I love him, I never cried over Fëanor's death. Oh no, I got mad. That said, the image of his body burning up because of the fire of his spirit as it sped off to Mandos, is probably one of the most beautiful and poetic ones in the book, and one of my favorites.

Beyond the book, I've read so many fanfictions that leave me in tears, or feeling just a sense of wistfulness and loss...The Silm fandom is really good at delivering the feels, that's all I've got to say :)
