also ckret. do you perhaps. aha. know the pantone colors for uh. prominent samurai jack charaters. at least jack or aku. cause uh. there is. not a lot of information online that im seeing. <= guy who really wants accurate hex codes
lmao ive never used a pantone color chart in my life.
to my knowledge, there's no single 100% reliable source for the hex colors of the main characters, bc the original show was hand drawn/painted on animation cels which means any given color is only as reliable as the scanner that day.
There's a whole article about how the background artists had to color-correct the scans of the painted backgrounds to try to perfectly match the colors of the original they were trying to emulate. I've seen some character sheets but they're all clearly scans and I've yet to see any copies of the character sheets that aren't grainy (which means the colors could all be a little off).
plus, which version of the episodes you're looking at (ripped from blu-ray DVD vs ripped from non-blu-ray DVD vs recorded off TV) can drastically change the colors.
if I'm wrong and we do have more reliable scans of the character models, someone point me toward the link bc I haven't seen 'em.
For season 1-4, best I can say is grab a bunch of screenshots that seem to be as close to neutral/white lighting as you can get, sample colors from them all, and average them together.
For season 5 they switched to digital art and higher definition so the coloring's more consistent (environmental lighting aside), but the characters' colors also change a lot in season 5. Sometimes for the better (jack's skintone...) but not always.
... or, you can rip the colors from the textures from one of the video games.
Amulet of Time has flat-colored sprites but more limited characters. Got Jack and Aku covered though.
Battle Through Time has more characters. They're shaded/textured and slightly dubious matches to the show colors, but they are at least a 100% reliable digital source for the colors from an official Samurai Jack work, and you can still find some uninterrupted patches of flat color and/or average out the color in a textured patch:

do you happen to use medibang paint by any chance? i dont really need this knowledge for anything but i saw your fox kit skin and the watercolor bits instantly reminded me of the Fluffy Watercolor brush. id know it anywhere. by heart and soul. unless i dont lol
Nope! I use CSP. Fox Kit is a combination of Darker Bleed + my own special sauce PencilSlug for the painted bits.

One of those downsides to RPing and writing being one of those passion hobbies that I've been doing for years is that every time I'm not doing it I'm just... obsessively thinking about doing it. Constantly. I am making up new nonexistent RPs in my head all the time and thinking about plots and none of them will ever see the light of day on this blog. And so when I get the chance to actually write something, it is one of those things that I get to go ham on. Enrichment in my enclosure. :>
