Crashing

She abandoned the ride she had "borrowed" at a safe distance from the Institute. There was no way she would walk the distance between the motel and Xavier's when the day was still young and she was wearing high heeled boots. She sneaked in through her bedroom's window and crashed on her bed. She was exhausted. Physically... emotionally exhausted. The look in his eyes when she told him that there wouldn't be a future for them... It haunted her. He seemed like a decent guy. She felt her self-loathing and disgust with herself resurface. She greeted the old, familiar feelings. Yes, that was her. Remi LeBeau, Cajun Thief, X-Men, life wrecker, guilty of so many sins and wrong-doings she lost count. She buried her face in her pillow with a disgruntled groan. Why was it that she could never stop herself before it was too late? She wished she could fall asleep and forget about it. She wished he could forget about it, or at least not be hurt by her cowardly escape.
