Ferdinand straightened his collar, fiddled with the band holding his ponytail in place, rolled and unrolled his sleeves, and-- ran out of things to fix. Nerves clogging his throat, Ferdinand knocked on the study door. “Felix? He called.
There was no reply.
It could be reasoned that, as it was so early in the morning, Felix could be at breakfast. Or training. Or even still asleep. But Felix had been staying at Ferdinand’s Enbarr estate for some time. Ferdinand knew the other man’s schedule quite well.
So, without waiting for a reply, Ferdinand let himself in.
Sure enough, Felix was at his desk. A Kingdom banner hung on one wall of the study, an Empire banner on the other. Weapons of all origins lay in display cases or hung on racks. Felix still wore his training clothes, hair tied back in a messy bun to keep it off his sweaty neck, reading what appeared to be a letter.
Ferdinand stared for a moment-- awestruck by the morning sun spilling in through the window and becoming a kind of spotlight for Felix. It was now or never.
“Felix,” Ferdinand repeated, closing the door and approaching the desk. “May I speak with you?”
Felix grunted. His eyes had yet to leave the paper before him.
Ferdinand cleared his throat. “As you may be aware, today is a festival day in the Empire. It is our Day of Devotion.”
“Mhm.” Felix turned the letter over.
“In the spirit of that, and assuming the work load today is light as has been the case in past years, I would like to ask you to accompany me to dinner tonight. A-Alone.” Ferdinand coughed. “T-This can be purely platonic of course. I value your friendship above all else. But if... if you are willing, perhaps--”
Felix dropped the letter onto the desk. “Ferdinand.”
Ferdinand gulped. “Yes?”
“I’ve received a letter from Dimitri.”
Got more doodles I’m gonna dump here, featuring a little Ferdilix thing inspired by @moeblob and their art of Felix and Ferdinand

Sneak Peak: Chapter 4 of Never Cage a Winter Wolf (A Ferdinand/Felix Arranged Marriage AU)
“Get up. Come and eat breakfast with me,” General Fraldarius said, his eyes roaming Ferdinand’s supine form. Ferdinand hadn’t thought it possible, but the General’s frown deepened before he turned to look back at Ferdinand’s face. “You were fine at dinner last night. How are you suddenly sick?” “I’m not sick as such...” Ferdinand glanced over to Dana for help. His valet entered the room and closed the door behind her, looking a bit guilty as she wrung her hands in front of her. She cleared her throat, affecting a polite, if strained, tone. “Lord Ferdinand suffers from a delicate constitution and muscle spasms, according to the doctor,” Dana supplied, which, unfortunately, made Ferdinand feel worse about the whole situation. However, it wouldn’t do to outright lie to General Fraldarius, not with how volatile the man could be even when treated with kid gloves. General Fraldarius glanced between Dana and Ferdinand, then fully turned his attention back to Ferdinand, looking strangely concerned. “So, what’s your problem today?” His words were rude, but Ferdinand couldn’t help but feel strangely touched. The General rarely spoke to him, mostly allowing Ferdinand to do the talking when they were together, so asking Ferdinand a direct question pertaining to his health gave him a bit of encouragement.
After years of bitter war between the Adrestian Empire and the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, General Felix Hugo Fraldarius, also known as the Winter Wolf, is captured and maimed. Instead of executing Felix or holding him for ransom, the Emperor instead offers him up to the son of the Prime Minister; an insult and an order rolled into one. What else can Ferdinand do but accept his liege's generous demand?
A story in which Felix determines to kill everyone involved, Ferdinand strives to survive, Ludwig can never be pleased, Edelgard and Hubert act as villains, and Linhardt, well, he just wants this all to be a bad dream.
