Art from the end of the last chapter of our current campaign! Ex spent almost half a month hiding away from the party after we failed to save the draconic city of Reython. Lots of things happened and he had to escape. His twin’s court was perfect for that.

In the immediate aftermath of the events of Reython, Exalted posited an idea. It wasn't the legendary Leiliryan hero that took so many lives in the dragon city... it was _them_; a small group of Solaedites and Solarens working together to secretly attack the country of Yisse just months after losing its capitol city. His lover Dominic, a Solaren Inquisitor, agreed that though it will be dangerous, it was essential for keeping the Leiliryan faith alive and without a target on its back. The country of Solaedis and its god could take the hit. The scene was set and the party made their escape.

Only Dominic had never made it to the fight in the first place. He woke up hours later to the sounds of screaming and panic. Somehow, he had been left behind? Did his compatriots fail their mission? Frantically, he gathered his things to find out...

Not long after the party escaped to the Blackthorn court did the truth make itself known. Unease rose and stomachs turned upon realizing they had been infiltrated. Not only did the party have to worry about what the impostor would bring back to their masters, a holy war was on the horizon and only one person was truly responsible for starting it. The Champion of the Elvenfather, follower of Solaris, Prince of the Blackthorn Court.

Exalted.

So he ran. He excused himself from the court abruptly, ignoring the calls for his return, and he ran. He ran for hours through the bramble and brush, passed predator and prey, until he reached the bank of a black, winding river. _Follow her. Follow her, she will take you home._

The river brought Exalted to a tree not unlike the one he had run from. Similar, but not the same. A tree of gold and platinum, shining brilliantly against the chaotic background of the court. Home.

And so he would stay there

And he would wait

This probably isn’t my final design for older!Quae, but it’s getting there!

Quae... had a difficult time as they aged. There were three kids to raise, Danka’s business empire to tend to, gods to (not actually) appease, no real time for travelling... and all the while their years of getting fucked up in fights were catching up with them.

These pictures are, in context, about five seconds apart. Quae’s pretty unsettling after 10 drinks and people starting to suggest they would be as bad a parent as their father was. (they don’t want a kid! but if it happens, they’ll do right by it!!)
