Y'all!! It's the painting from the Cafe scene in Goncharov (1973)! It's the one you can see over Goncharov's shoulder when Ice Pick Joe is wrapping up leftovers for the cats. I found it in an antique shop the other day, and at first I couldn't figure out why it was so familiar.
On the one hand it sucks that the artist is unknown, but on the other hand it's so fitting to have the shot dominated by the work of an anonymous artist when Goncharov is caught up in the peculiar realization that he knows very little about Joe as a person. That flash of Joe's characterization beautifully underlines the fact that we know so little about Goncharov's inner life that it's easy to wonder if there's anything there to know. I'm so curious if that was a deliberate choice or if it was just a bit of serendipitous set-dressing.
Another pic of our lil Sam doll, this time watching Trick 'r Treat with us last night!
(This Sam doll and other wonderful crochet work found on etsy from MsQuyn Crochet)
I'm so excited to finally have this little Sam (Trick 'r Treat) doll! I've had my eye on him for ages, and now he's here to celebrate Halloween with us.
He was made by MsQuyn Crochet on Etsy, and all of her work is just as fabulous.
Some pics from my co-mod's birthday the other day. We had so much fun! 10/10, would recommend: using Halloween decorations for birthday parties.
