you know Varrick has gotta be one of my favorite LOK characters. like. he's morally grey as fuck, but he's a genius and hilarious. LOK struggled a lot with finding it's tone and the humor was all over the place. but every scene with Varrick in it was comedic gold. no hate on Meelo or Bolin, but as far as comic relief characters go, Varrick was by far the funniest and most interesting. I love Bolin, but a lot of the time, when he was used for comic relief, it just was all over the place and overdone or else made them somewhat flat or one-dimensional. but whenever Varrick came in, you always got a layered sense of humor. because he's genuinely smart and super creative, morally grey, completely in it for himself and unashamed of that, and he has complexity as a character. like, he always has ulterior (and often questionable) motives and that's interesting af.

i dunno how to describe it better, but Varrick is just genuinely a super interesting and funny character and he's always well-written. like, his sense of humor always takes you by surprise. he says things you as the viewer don't expect, and that's part of why it's so funny. and he is used to drive the plot forward in interesting, and often necessary ways. i dunno, i just think Varrick is a really well-written character and i unashamedly love him.
