Oc day!!!! I really wanna know more bout the unicorns! Are there different kinds? Or sub species? :0!!!

They’re magical shapeshifters so there’s technically no real big physical differences between them that they couldn’t just shapeshift in or out of besides color palettes, but the two things that do differentiate them is how long they’ve lived, and what district they live in. Again, still figuring out the details, but basically each district is responsible for the happiness of a different part of the world, it’s easier to divide that way, so each district would have small influences from that part of the world, along with a shape/icon that best defines their district, for the rainbow district, it’s, well, a rainbow! so all the shape design in that area will have that color palette and U shape as the main influence, other districts I plan on having so far are star, moon, sun, heart, clover, flower, cloud, rain, lightning, etc. basically cute simple shapes that would be easy to use as design inspo and be good iconography! I already have unicorns who use some of these shapes a lot, trixie w stars, and the siblings with hearts, so it would be easy to say thats the districts they grew up in before moving over to Rainbow!! i think that would be fun and neat!! I’m kinda just coming up with some of this now fjerkfrej oh god i’m sorry if this sounds so lame jajaja, it’s in progress...

and then back to age, you can kinda tell which unicorns have been alive longer based on the magic they may know, this is due to multiple factors, biggest being that most of the population don’t really use or know how to use magic, it’s not a necessity like it used to be so most are content to just know simple levitation or some shape shifting here and there, easy and practical. But elders may know how to transmute, create fire, teleport, all sorts of things! Unfortunelty elders make up a very very small portion of the population because of the unicorn wipeout that happened centauries ago, lots of magical knowledge was lost, and the elders that survived made the pocket dimension that the current unicorn society lives in. There they were able to live peacefully, while still surviving off the magical gunk humans excrete without actively endangering their lives. Eventually humans forgot they existed and they were able to come up w their current system of helping younger humans have a safe and healthy childhood so they could then have happy adulthoods and thus more happy magic for the unicorns!

also here’s a random paragraph about where unicorns come from because world building brain is WIDE AWAKE (((okay so, unicorns themselves aren’t 100% certain about how new unicorns are made, but it has to do with the happiness levels of earth ((some say unicorns came from the first feeling of pure joy a human ever felt)) , currently only 0-2 unicorn(s) are born a year, they can usually calculate the peak for when it will occur, it will happen at the most magically concentrated point at a random district, big flash of light, very cool and sparkly hell yeah, and then a new unicorn woohoo! Their first form is usually very very bright and hard to look at, but they’ll dull out as they start to properly manifest and take form. (The first unicorns sort of stayed in that ambiguous glowing form, then began copying the other living creatures around them, and then eventually became more and more anthropomorphic with their forms as time went on!) So most new unicorns don’t really have a base form right away, for some they can find it seconds after being born, for others it can take years before they truly settle on a form that feels right for them, and of course like with Hev, that form can change based on all sorts of factors! (fluidity yeyeye!) And i think i talked about this before but unicorns born in the same year are usually considered siblings, like Clay and Mikey! They will have similar color palettes and tend to have an immediate connection with one another, so they tend to stick around each other. Siblings are rare and considered super good luck, and a sign that happiness levels are higher and thus more magic and energy for the unicorns! yeehaw!))) anyways hope you enjoyed this very random collection of thoughts, wow if you read all this i love you and here is a little hug from me to you! jejeje ;w;
