Please join Feedists for Fat Liberation’s Arts and Crafts Hangouts in 2026!
These informal events are to work on our own arts and/or crafts projects together over Zoom. We can share the joy of creation during these troubling times for about an hour and a half. In 2026, our goal is to have one every first Sunday of the month at 5pm eastern time.
Sunday July 5, 2026 2:00 p.m. PDT, 5:00 p.m. EDT, and 10:00 p.m. GMT

what i don't get about kdrama subbing these days is withs2 seemed to have like a style guide for subbing, and they would use the original untranslatable (meaning there is not a direct word for this in english/or this is an opportunity to explain something specific about korean language and modes of communication that does not exist in english) korean words and have an explanation for what they mean in parentheses. and it worked excellently!!! but now that seems to have been abandoned for trying to translate things like title and familiar vs formal speech into things that are literally made up. kijoon was asking if he should call in ah "in ah-sshi," which is using her given first name instead of calling her her work title, and the two eng lang subs i have translate it as 1) ms. in ah and 2) my darling in ah. MY DARLING IN AH. where the fuck did "my darling" come from???? what style guide are these people using??? why are they just making shit up??? they also use "ma'am" for when people call her by her work title. 😫 or "ms. joo" 😔 and "ms. in ah" doesn't even make sense in u.s. english. who calls their girlfriend "ms. first name"????? hello???
like if something was already working really well 20 years ago by a group of non-professionals why would professionals getting paid for this 2 decades later do something exponentially worse?
