Ffresh Student Media Festival 2014 (10 - 12 may)
Ffresh Festival - Glyndwr
Ffresh is the student moving image festival of wales, which this year took place in Glyndŵr University. The line up was interesting but the Dylan Kendle (Tomato) Masterclass really got my attention.
It takes a very special type of person to fill an auditorium full of students and keep their attention, Kendle of Tomato: The London based creative collective did just that.
Kendle started by accrediting Tomato’s high profile to the Trainspotting title sequence “12 seconds, and it’s the most famous thing we’ve done” He proceeded to speak of his experience in the design industry and didn’t shy away from the negative bits. He didn’t paint the industry as some romantic dream but told it as it is, showing character not ego.
Tomato is a truly creative collective, comprising of awesome people who have proper values and create amazing things. If that’s not inspiring, what is? The ultimate message from Kendle’s talk was; “Do it like you mean it, don’t do it for the money, do it regardless”
I didn’t see the ever-increasing potential of moving image before attending Ffresh, time to grab a camera and go experiment!
