Gabranth - Gau (Aspiration) : Interaction in Act 3 Chapter 2 and Garnet's Intertwining Wills. Both were abandoned by their family member and got "stray" theme.

Gau was abandoned by his father who went mad after the death of his wife.

Gabranth turned his hatred towards Basch who 'abandoned' him and his mother to fight for Dalmasca after the fall of Landis.

Ursula - Ashe (Dual Turning Palm Strike) : Princesses who looks up to their father as a role model and are determined to seek for strength/power until they learns they were wrong.

Ursula wished to become stronger like Yang, and wants him to train with her but he always refuses so she secretly training alone in Mt.Hobs. In the end, she came to realize someone with strength of heart to protect friends is stronger than someone with physical strength alone.

Ashe looked up to King Raminas as a role model of what a good ruler should be like. She wished to take revenge on Archadia by using the nethicite but gave up her quest realizing Dalmasca used Dusk Shard for peace instead of weapon and her late husband wouldn't want her to take revenge.

Fujin - Shadow (Hyou) : Taciturn.

Being a ninja/assasin type, Shadow rarely speaks and didn't get involved that much in the party affairs.

Fujin prefers efficiency for her speech manner. in Japanese, her dialogue text is shown in kanji while in English is all capitalized word.

Sherlotta - Cait Sith (Crystal Dice) : 🐱 CATS. Their current form are not their real form.

Sherlotta's real form is asleep in the Tower but her consciousness possess an immortal cat. Cait Sith is a cat robot controlled by Reeve.

Reno - Quistis (Galvanic Chain) : Both work for an organization and takes their job with pride.

Reno is an agent and second in command of Turks, an elite investigation department of Shinra. Despite his appearance and laid-back personality when it comes to mission, he always took it professionally.

Quistis is a member of SeeD, a hired mercenary force from Balamb Garden. Despite her lack in leadership, she is proud and always tries her best with her job. When Squall is promoted as Commander of SeeD, Quistis serves as his assistant along with Xu.

(Paired because of professionalism trait sounds unique and indeed there are some scene where they showed their professionalism but tbh it feels random to me.)

Cloud of Darkness - Exdeath (Void Particle Beam) : Both are the entities who wished to return everything to nothingness. (VOID)

Cloud of Darkness is an entity which appears when the imbalance between Light and Dark occurs. It can be said its the embodiment of Void itself.

Exdeath is a warlock born out from the concentration of evil spirits sealed in a tree in Forest of Moore.

Ofc!! I love doing these every once in a while. Sorry for the lateness of this one idk how I missed it but have an extra Gau for your patience.

This piece is one I made… at least a few months ago, just thinking about if Gau’s outfit when you go to meet his dad was a combo of what Cyan and Sabin might consider formal. I never thought to post it, though! It also includes @seepingfrommyskin ‘s idea about him having to get a haircut bc his hair really must be so, so matted.

Here’s my take on Relm and Gau ~10 years after the end of the game.

Relm’s color palette is always the hardest to make work but I think I did it. I enjoyed coming up with an outfit for her otherwise because it’s just always fun to make some detailed outfits just for the hell of it.

Gau’s I tried to keep simple but also reference back to Sabin and Cyan quite a bit. Just changing how much of each color there is in his color palette also made him look more like the soldiers in Figaro, which wasn’t even intentional but it works.

But beyond design ideas here’s what I was thinking about Gau in general a bit after FFVI:

I feel like he’s old enough in FFVI to remember and hold on to a lot of his connection to the wild and at least some habits.

To better word a previous comment I can see him staying around South Figaro as a home base to be near Sabin, Cyan, Edgar, etc. but also spending a lot of time traveling basically anywhere and everywhere to help restore some of the ecosystems and wildlife that was damaged by Kefka (and also the Empire before it fell apart. But mostly Kefka specifically).

That just feels like it’d be a good balance of being around family but also not being confined to one place. I mean even in FFVI itself he leaves and stays with monsters in the Veldt before coming back after a bit.

As for his future after that, I’d have to keep thinking. I’d love to hear anyone else’s thoughts as well! I honestly love thinking about this and if I’m able to come up with some sort of plot I think it has short comic potential.

Also a quick sketch of Gau as an accountant (differentiated from any other office job because there’s a calculator) (EDIT: clarification that this is a joke he’d lose his mind at any type of even relatively indoors job lol. Especially an office job. He’s probably just doodling stuff rather than doing any work ngl)
