OK another FFXIV question in case anyone can help me with it.
Can anyone explain, ideally as though explaining to a 10yr old, how you change your retainer’s job without resetting them to level 1. Twice I have tried to do this (the second time following an online guide) and both times they lost their original job and went back to level 1.
Having just re-levelled the retainer for the third time to level 90 I’m anxious not to mess this up again. Currently they are level 90 arcanist and I want them to be a pictomancer, as my pictomancer is level 100 and my summoner/scholar is not.
Apologies for what is almost certainly a very silly question.
Gamers, does ANOYONE know of a mod that can fix where your character looks when they're targeting someone? Because Kaiden here seems to keep staring at the 'middle' point of the model, instead of the face and................... he looks like he's oogling tits constantly. Please help him, he is a weakminded man and i need him to be respectful sometimes
Hello! If any of y'all could help me out, I'd appreciate it!
A couple days ago I saw a post talking about a macro for housing in ffxiv that would help you select an item that you couldn't click on.
I could have sworn I reblogged it, but this is tumblr and no trace of it can be found by mine own eyes. Do any of you have either the macro or a link to the post itself?
I decided to be even more extra with my altoholism today while pruning some down.
Years ago I had a gpose portrait style icon that I would set as the folder image for each character, but this was tedious any time the character changed at all.
Today I decided to browse through all the in-game image/icon assets on this website, save, and convert to .ICO and put those in my "ICONS" folder instead of the old portraits. Then, I applied each of those icons to the character folders accordingly, as well as moving the .DAT files for each Character Creation into their corresponding folders (I can move them back out if I ever need them again).
If you want to do the same, all you have to do is right click the folder, Properties, Customize Tab, Change Icon, and then hit Browse to navigate to where you saved the icon. I used this site to convert the PNGs from XIVAPI to ICO since it doesn't cut you off at 10 or however many.
The legend is kind of ambiguous to anyone but me, but it helped me easily go to my gunbun's folder and grab her recently tweaked UI to move to the others. You can choose whatever system works best for you. I'll share it below the cut.
And for anyone who is playing PC and doesn't know about all this folder business yet: if you go to your Documents folder, under My Games there should be an FFxiv folder. It will be in the same place as your Screenshots folder as shown above. Each of those cryptically labeled CHR folders represents a different character.
Within those folders, you can open the "log" with a text editor and scroll through to look for your character's name in order to identify which character each folder belongs to.
The .DAT files within contain each characters individual settings. This is how to copy things like the size/position of UI elements, macros, hotbar layouts, etc between characters easily and individually.
Job Crystals :: Single-Job alts. These characters focus on one Job and MSQ- nothing else. I stop them at the latest Job unlock level, which is 70 right now. BLU and Limited Jobs do have a secondary so I can pick up and turn in quests.
Snake/Clover/Wolves :: Dawntrail Single Job alts (holding out for BST)
Six Elements/Astral/Umbral :: Mains. Lorewise I gave them Elemental Wheel affiliations so I would cease and fucking desist trying to make more endgame characters. Umbral and Astral are my catboys (R'izel and Aleh'zi the deer/wildling) and the other elements are my former main girls and the two that I grew really attached to (Earth = C'seniya/Sena, Fire= Noor, Lightning = Sorsha, Ice = Sparrow, Water = Vachidei/Chi, Wind = Iriadne my newest Entelechy project... thing). I do all Jobs on my boys, the other 6 have Jobs split between them and Sena is my Omnicrafter.
Plus Marker :: Placeholders. Characters at lvl30 minimum that I had for various purposes, like other regions, but will repurpose for new Single Job alts in future expansions.
updated my driver to play ffxiv, the sims 4 randomly enabled full screen and i cant change it without it going white screen, my ffxiv crashes randomly, and idk what to do
When you're playing you've probably noticed people with these little symbols on:
[ID: two small icons of a simple crown. the one on the left has a hammer on the lower right and the one on the right has a sword /end ID]
What these mean is that that player (on that character) has reached the requirements for mentor. As a mentor there are certain expected standards of behavior. Straight from XIV's mouth:
[ID: an ornate text box in FFXIV titled Mentor Certification. It reads "You will receive the following mentor certification:
-Trade Mentor
Mentors are expected to:
-provide Gameplay advice for new adventurers
-Be an exemplar for player etiquette
-Invite new adventurers to the Novice Network, and answer their queries in the chat channel.
(in red text) Inappropriate mentor behavior may be reported. /end ID]
&&
The Adventurers' Guild has certified you as an official mentor! You now have access to the Novice Network and are eligible to receive the experience point bonus from grouping with new adventurers.
Battle mentors may also use Duty Roulette: Mentor.
When interacting with beginning players on the Novice Network chat channel or in Duty Roulette: Mentor, we ask that you do your best to offer advice and encouragement, and answer their questions with patience and clarity.
These are both told to you and agreed to in order to wear the crown. If you see a mentor being in any way intentionally shitty you are 100% encouraged to report them. It's not nearly as bad an issue as it was before with the increased reqs, but it still happens at times. As a mentor, mod, and fellow player I not only encourage but beg you to report any mentors giving the crown a bad name.
Today (October 19th) is officially the start of All Saint's Wake 2022!
Along with listed event awards we're given access to a large garden all decked out for the season as well as our yearly Haunted Manor- neither as a duty nor with a time limit and both with imps to transform you into different NPCs!
If Spooky Season is your thing, pop on over to the amphitheater in Gridania! I promise the quests are cute and short and as accessible as anything else in the game.
**NOTE: Haunted Manor entrance is inside the garden right next to where you spawn in/leave
