What Then
alright so
I have a bunch of points to make and I am just over-caffienated enough to make this long ass post and not care about the consequences. The facts are as follows:
1. Jeanne D'Arc Alter, Edmond, and a bunch of other Avenger class servants go "link lost" on Ritsuka at the end of OC2. 2. Part 2, The Lostbelts AND The Ordeal Calls end this "Winter". Part 1, i.e. the Singularity arc, ended with a massive fucking battle at the Temple of Time where literally everyone showed up. We have not had that in Part 2 yet. Yes we had ORT but that wasn't the same type of thing as the Temple of Time since it was entirely our own respective rosters doing the fighting. 3. At some point in the initial draft for OC2, per what I hope was a very poor translated famitsu article the Avengers were meant to go Data Lost but one of the lad writers blocked Nasu from doing that because "it would be too sad on top of everything else" yet they still made the Avengers go away.
4. The difference between "Data Lost" and "Link Lost" is important(I'll come back to this. Don't fucking think I won't) 5. What happens when a "Root Class Servant" goes link/data lost?
I will be addressing each of these points as best as I can with my limited knowledge of OC2 and expanding on theories I have discussed with my friends.
~~~~~~~
Point 1: This is pretty self explanatory. For some reason during OC2 Edmond, Jeanne Alter, and the Avengers that show up all go Link Lost due to Edmond purposely cutting the link. Why the everloving fuck Edmond would cut the thing linking him to his "Accomplice" I have no idea but I could 100% see him doing it to Protect Ritsuka for whatever reason. I'm sure we'll find out next March. ~~~~~~~~~~ Point 2: This part of FateGOs story is ending soon and we haven't had a massive end all/be all battle yet. Based on what little I've been able to find out its all but guaranteed that there WILL be one and the timeframe seems to be "Winter 2025" (if anyone could provide sources for this I'll buy you a boba.)
Now you might be thinking that ORT was a big final battle but think back to it and how that went down. ORT was a single player raid where you pitted your entire account so far against an enemy that actively reduced the servants you had available. It was a battle of survival and terror. Which is not at all what the Temple of Time was about. Storming the Temple of Time was about finalizing our victory against Goetia and protecting Humanity. It was a grand final battle where everyone, from every event, every singularity, LITERALLY EVERYONE Showed up to finish the fight. We have not had anything like that in Part 2 so far. ~~~~~~~ Points 3 and 4: Per what I was able to find out the "original" version of OC2 had the Avengers going "Data Lost" as opposed to what did happen which was them going "Link Lost". Here is why that difference is FUCKING IMPORTANT.
Think of the Throne of Heroes as an utterly massive hard drive. It contains the records of every hero, anti-hero, villain, and everything inbetween and it is constantly updating itself with new data even if that data is from an alternate dimension or timeline. This is how we got Faerie Britain Morgan La Fae from Lostbelt 6. She died in LB6 and yet somehow we managed to summon her in Proper Human History.
When a Servant goes "Link Lost" what that means is that the connection between the Servant and another thing has been severed but can be reconnected at a later date. Which is opposite of Data Lost. "Data Lost" means that that servants profile IN THE THRONE ITSELF has been lost. This also means that EVERY record of them, be it physical or digital or even the memories of the people who saw them
Are erased. So far we have only seen one Servant go "Data Lost" on us and that was Musashi. We don't know if Ritsuka remembers her at all because for all intents and purposes she has been wiped from the story. The only reason we can use Saber Musashi and her Berserker form is due to gameplay reasons and laws in Japan.
Which leads me to point 5...
~~~~~
Point 5: What happens when a "Root Class Servant" goes Data Lost? First lets define what I mean by "Root Class Servant". These are Servants who, upon being registered in the Throne, add a new "Folder" to the Thrones database that Mages can summon from. So far I have only been able to pin down two "Root Class Servants" who both are the first servant of their kind and enable Chaldea's summoning system to summon MORE of that class of Servant:
Edmond Dantes and BB. Edmond Dantes, aka Count of Monte Cristo, is the Literal first Avenger Servant we can summon through Chaldeas system. The only reason we can in the first place is the bond that was formed between Edmond and Ritsuka during the whole Hell Tower thing the Goetia put Edmond up to.
literally EVERY Avenger Servant, bar Mainyu because thats its own special kind of bullshit, has been able to have been summoned or have servants change class into them due to Edmond creating a new "folder" in the Throne. ~~~~~ So now that we've covered those five points let ask ourselves this question: What would happen if a "Root Class Servant" were to go Data Lost? If the root of a thing is removed by extension everything after them is removed as well. Which means that if Edmond were to go Data Lost, The avenger class as a whole would cease to exist in Humanities memory due to it being "forgotten" by the Throne.
No Jeanne Alter, No Summer Chloe, No Nito Alter, and no Lobo. It would fundamentally break the game on a story level. Now lets ask ourselves this now: If Edmond were to go away along with the Avenger class as a whole What servant would this also affect that if they vanished and went data lost would throw JP in a fucking frothing mad frenzy and would probably lead to Nasu being stabbed in an alleyway? Nobu. Maou Oda fucking Nobunaga.
Post OC2 Nobu, being an avenger, would also go Link Lost as well due to Edmond vanishing. Given how fucking feral JP is for Nobu how long do you think she can stay gone? Because if Nobu comes back then by extension Edmond Has to as well
Which means EVERYONE else comes back too.
Which leads me to my theory and final statement: Nasu has to bring back the Avengers if only to keep JP from going after his head due to Nobu going away post OC2. The GudaGuda events are beloved on JP and you cannot have a GudaGuda without Nobu. Its like having sushi with no rice. Edmond has a clearly stated flair for the theatrical. so what better time for ALL THE AVENGERS TO COME BACK THAN IN A LITERAL BLAZE OF GLORY WITH EDMOND LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF IN THE VANGUARD than in the final battle happening this Winter.

I spent 2 hours on this in gartic
Couple's commission for @doctor-roman
Grandpa got bodied, we also got to see a master servant duo in this shot again so write that down for the list. Also Demiya smiled! A productive chapter
[fate au] pseudo-singularity -> shinjuku
A week after the Babylonia Singularity and The Temple of Time drawing near, a sudden yet small singularity forms. Rikka has also gone missing, and thinking her disappearance and this singularity are linked, Romani orders Ritsuka to rayshift there. With the help of two rowdy Alters and a suspicious Archer, Ritsuka goes to uncover the mysteries Shinjuku holds.
If this was any indication, this would’ve lead Jalter to be erased completely from history, because for when Jeanne d’arc had no desires, a possibility of an alter would not exist. Thus, Jalter would’ve disappeared eventually after getting defeated. However, there was a twist. So how does Jalter continue to exist and join the throne of heroes? Because the same one who defeated her, Ritsuka, is the same who saves her. How? In Jeanne d’arc’s interlude, she starts to gain a desire, a wish led to corruption which grants Jalter the ability to exist.
And that wish, was for Jeanne d’arc to be saved. Because of this wish, as I said, allows for that little bit of corruption that allows Jalter to exist in this world. The path of an alter becomes a possibility. In other words, if Ritsuka didn’t save her, Jalter wouldn’t exist.
Another way to look at it is in Jalter’s own interlude. First thing to keep in mind, was what Jalter was created for. She was created for another mans revenge. Her whole goal was to destroy France. However, since she was defeated, nothing held meaning anymore for her.
During her interlude, in France, Jalter says that there a bunch of spirits haunting and harming citizens in a mini singularity. In short, Jalter says they are revenge ghosts that grew mad and don’t know who to hate anymore. However it was singularity Jalter who did this not her
Which leads to the question: Why is she doing all of this? She has no reason to be atoning for the singularity Jalter’s sins Questions are asked about her avenger class (we’ll talk about that later), wondering if she’s doing for herself If so she is not fit as Ritsuka’s servant
And her answer, is that she is trying to find that out herself. Remember what I stated before? When Jalter was defeated, she lost everything. Pride, her goals, her motivation. All of it was gone when she was defeated in France. It came to a point where not even killing is fun.
However, even with her defeat, she still has one thing to keep her going. It’s not fame or salvation or anything like that. It is bring Ritsuka victory. To her, that’s the one thing she can never forget. And it keeps her going. That is a pure declaration of pure faithfulness.
The mastermind behind it all was the old math professor and archenemy of Sherlock Holmes. As he continued to orchestrate his plan to destroy it.
However, that is not the only thing that has been roaming the streets.
Hessian Lobo. The wolf king joined by the headless horseman who hates humans for what they did to his mate and his Cubs.
An avenger nothing more than rage that, similar to the ghosts don’t know what to hate And after several encounters, for what seems like the third time in a hunt, Hessian Lobo comes back after Ritsuka and Co. defeated Yan Qing, the doppelgänger assassin of shinjuku
And this time it is more powerful and out for blood. And it’s target becomes none other than Ritsuka
However, just before it can attack, Jalter distracts Lobo for time for them to escape. However, in nearly death, Jalter thinks to herself that she’s a fake. She knew she was an avenger, that she would never help the world. And yet, she did... she helped him. And desire more.
Later, we see what Jalter says about avengers. They don’t hate because of pure revenge or claiming back what was there’s. They hate because it gets their heart going. Their blood pumping. However, even when it’s satisfied, they’ll always end up wanting more. Jalter included.
So, she gives one final advice before the final battle with Lobo.
If an avenger were to ever be around, Ritsuka can’t simply defeat it. He has to kill it.
It is like putting out a dog who has rabies. That it would be a mercy to kill them.
Question is... why does she say this?
However, at the climax and the final battle with Moriatry, Jalter, alongside some of others like Edmond Dantes, come back to help Ritsuka out in facing him before the meteor comes crashing down As Ritsuka wanted her to live, Jalter was able to find a sewer and escape Lobo barely
Finally, after all that happen, it remains with just Ritsuka and Jalter alone. And thus, she gets her final wish. To dance with Ritsuka. Not to get back at Salter, but because she wanted to dance with him. Even if it wasn’t a proper ballroom, she still wanted to dance with him.
And they dance their hearts content tonight. All up until Jalter is about to disappear. However, even after dancing, there was one more thing that she promised to Ritsuka. It was that they both practice again, so they may dance again. This wasn’t made to anyone else but him.
Fast forward to Summer 3, in Hawaii, when Ritsuka and Co. we’re supposed to take a vacation, Jalter starts a booth in the ServantFes. She decides to go with doujin making, to rival Jeanne d’arc and drags Ritsuka to join in. While at first, it wasn’t his idea, he stays with her
Before getting into the important stuff know that Ritsuka and Jalter spend A LOT of time together even when they make doujins Whether it would be eating together, walking on the beach, all of that It comes to a point where she says Ritsuka is hers, and wouldn’t trade him at all
However, even through countless time loops, Jalter begins to become even more passionate about her doujins. She no longer wants it half baked And even then, she feels guilty for dragging Ritsuka along even when he had a vacation. But Ritsuka still stayed by her side all the way
And after all the hard work, Jalter later comes close to finishing her final doujin. However, something was still missing. A satisfying ending. Who does she turn to? Not Jeanne d’arc. Not Robin. No, she turns to Ritsuka. And when she does, they find an ending they can relate to
Now, I realize that I’m just giving all evidence, no explanation, so what does this all mean? In my heart and in my eyes, this ship is not simply a good guy x tsundere. No. Ritsuka didn’t just have her open up. He saved her. He saved her to a life of hate, and helped her dream.
People seem to underestimate this as a simple “uwu” tsundere ship, but we forget that Jalter had it ROUGH. Imagine having to live that life of hate and anger all to know that you’re just a fake. What would the world mean to you? And to Jalter, Ritsuka was her world.
People can also pass off Ritsuka as simply a self insert too, but I don’t believe that’s true either. Who Ritsuka is, is a kind soul who is accepts everybody good or evil. He believes that he can love the good and even in evil there’s something to respect. Perfect for Jalter.
Ritsuka has constantly been there for Jalter, both directly and indirectly. And Jalter’s life was saved. She found something to compensate for her hatred. She found something to believe in. She found someone who can accept her. To Jalter,... Ritsuka is her hero.
And that’s, I FIRMLY BELIEVE, that Ritsuka x Jalter is the best ship ever. A ship of pure faithfulness. A heroic tale. A fiery couple. Ritsuka and Jalter deserve eternal happiness. Even if the world is against me, I will support it to the end. Thank you all for reading.
