Fantasy High: Sophomore Year is my favorite Intrepid Heros season, but the sound quality makes it almost impossible to enjoy on rewatch. The subtitles are not great and it really bums me out.
okay so i'm glad it's not just me who thinks that

I did this Fabriz sketch
Based off of this Markiplier thumbnail
Bonus:
I'm glad that Dimension 20 is getting more popularity and ways to expose itself, but my god is the Webtoon comic HORRENDOUS.
I am all for people having their own art styles and they need to be able to be drawn easily for a webcomic, but it looks fucking awful.
The writing is bad and cheesy, if it's supposed to represent D20, this makes D20 look like a cringy and unappealing show.
I don't know who signed off on it, but the way they did it was a BAD idea.

neverafter is my favorite piece of media of all time. that being said, i wish that there had been less attention on the fairy in the orange top hat. it was pretty funny but also like man i was taking this season seriously :(( it prob would have been more powerful had they not devolved into bits (much like with the end of fhjy). i think na should have been closer to a crown of candy level serious than fantasy high serious.
also while i love the intrepid heroes so much and respect them greatly as players and comedians, i feel like they need to work on their tendencies to devolve into bits. they’re comedians so it makes sense that the show is very comedy focused but like they can let some moments be serious.

Once me and my girlfriend were watching Fantasy High Freshman Year and statted making out - as things were getting heated Fabian comes out with "Oh! Papa!" And it killed the mood for the next 24hrs bc we were laughing too much

It drives me crazy when people criticize emily and ally in fantasy high, like firstly they both do know how to play serious but they are *playing fucking teenagers* both of whom are *pretty fucking traumatized* and likely have *some combination of neurodivergence* like have yall never met a traumatized gay neurodivergent kid before emily and ally play fig and kristen almost perfectly. Yeah theyre annoying at times and awkward and do stupid bits- have a conversation with a teenager they are all of those things. its a comedy actual play show about high schoolers not lord of the rings what did you think you were signing up to watch

I will always be salty about how brennan and the IH handled kipperlilly. The rest of the rat grinders were revived and given a chance to change but just because she was "too annoying" or something they ignored the fact that she was groomed by porter and made her into some evil asshole who deserved to die and go to hell. Aelwyn literally killed people. They have redeemed evil ppl who did so much worse than an angry 16 year old girl
I've gone into this on my main before, but I do think ttrpgs lend themselves to redemption based on likeability. Aelwyn has a personal connection to a PC, being possibly the only not terrible person in Adaine's family, as well as a full bit where Fabian was obsessed with rescuing her from prison. There was story and comedy to redeeming her. Kipperlily largely didn't have that. There was no one in the party who liked Kipperlily, they all hated her for a variety of reasons. There was no connection to build off of. Does it suck from a viewer's standpoint if they're more focused on the story than the characters? (which neither is bad to prioritize for the record). Yeah kinda, but that's the way the cards fall. I don't like what was left for Kipperlily (or Kalina but that's a different conversation), and I kinda hope that if they do a Senior year, a lot of old stuff gets fixed.
Also Kipperlily very much murdered like 10 people to be clear, that was a thing that happened, she committed on screen murder.
Normal level take I hope but I don't like the FHFY webtoon. I don't think the art captures the characters personalities and I think the scenes and dynamics were flattened and that the campaign does not translate to the webtoon at all. Certain bits were fun to see but overall it's not the same in a way that isn't interesting or transformative. FHFY was just flattened into a basic webtoon premise and I will say it again they are lowkey mischaracterizing the PCs and NPCs
