NSFW asks are fine with me, as long as they aren't overly para-social, this is a place of dishonor and indecency. To clarify, you can be weirder about Dimension 20 or VIP characters than you can be about real people

Keep things focused on the shows. The casts' personal life is a no go unless discussed on camera. Please include where it was mentioned so I don't have to scrub an entire episode to verify it.

i have been getting more and more comments about my tagging system, so i am going to reiterate: i am going to be tagging all posts that are negative, with both the regular tag and and the anti tag

this is because if someone has, let's say, "a starstruck odyssey" as a blocked tag because they have yet to watch it and are trying to avoid any kind of spoilers, i do not want a post complaining about that season to show up on their feed.

if for whatever reason, someone has a person as a blocked tag, i'd like posts about that person to not show up on their feed.

some people, including those who follow me, use tags for topic blocking, so i'd like to do my best to be through, without people having to block every single negative variation tag as well. i understand, that some people believe negative posts should not be in the main tag. i also do not understand how you expect me to tag any of these posts with the people or topics in the discussion, if they aren't tagged either in the main tags or entirely in negative tags, which would be inaccurate, and cause the issues listed above so as a compromise, I'll be adding "negative dropout confession" as a tag to all my negative asks. one simple tag if you'd like to block all negative posts from this blog.

Extremely funny to post a confession about needing more ragebait content and then leaving for an extended amount of time

Oh honestly didn't even notice because I queue basically all my posts. I just started a new job so I now have 40 hours a week of not logging into tumblr.

we need more ragebait content on Dropout. it’s a great jumping off point for some edgier humor that’s still familiar to fans.

Tao’s Smartypants presentation, Lily’s Gastronauts challenge, and Katie as the Dragon Master for On a Bus are some of the funniest things on the platform.

my blood boils everytime someone talks about emily being a bad player, especially when they imply that she annoys the other players.

Can we just accept that we dont know this people in real life and if they're still playing togeher they're clearly not as annoyed as you think they are?

If you dont like Emily, just say so, no issue with that, but stop making up bad blood between players that isnt there.

the most recent game changer episode has horrible timing and it feels way too close to the 'conservative comedian joking about being cancelled in their netflix special' trend. i spent the whole episode half expecting them to bring up their recent cancellations (the rookie collab, transmisogyny) because they haven't really taken the criticism seriously so far and it feels like they're intentionally trying to lean into an edgier brand to soften the blow of the Wholesome Comedy Show acting not so wholesome.

i think the episode itself is mostly funny (jeremy lou and ally are great ofc) but it's a strange premise. the apologies specifically felt like mocking the fans who have given criticisms of dropout, especially since they haven't really addressed any of those criticisms let alone apologised. maybe it was filmed before they did the rookie collab but it really feels like they're lashing out with edgier humour after their recent 'cancellations'. i hope not

Following the whole nonce thing, ive seen people in tags and reblogs also mentioning copaganda and antisemitism on the part of sam reich. I'm, admittedly, very offline, and uncertain how to verify these things (so if anyone has any sources please share). However this whole thing definitely makes me look at dropout with a more critical lens. Corporations arent your friends etc etc but damn. Still disappointing.

The copaganda thing is from their crossover with the Rookie, a copaganda show funded by the LAPD.

I am unfortunately not super surprised by the transmisogyny stuff given that a little while ago a msn prompt was about ‘men not being able to lactate’ and somehow no one on staff pointed out that it comes off as pretty weird and exclusionary of trans men.

Obviously the company is bigger than Sam and obviously we shouldn’t be putting all our love and hope into a corporation but it still stings when it’s been one of my favourite production companies that regularly features all kinds of trans people (shout out to sephie and ally specifically)

Hey I just wanted to quickly ask as a transfem, on the topic of Dropout not having transfem representation: is Persephone Valentine not transfem? I mean this /gen. She’s not as frequent as the “core cast” obviously but she has appeared as a contestant on Game Changer, she’s one of The Seven, and I think she mentioned on an episode of Dirty Laundry she’s trans. I don’t follow her personally so I could be misremembering, but I feel that. Is transfem representation, no?

She is, but also she's been on like, a few episodes she's been on outside of The Seven, and also should not be the only transfem outside of the drag side of dropout who represents us yk? People say "dropout has no transfem representation" largely because it gets the point across more than "dropout has one trans woman they invite back once a year"

In no world have I ever considered SNL a queer friendly community. The point isn't that dropout isn't as bad as everyone else. The point is that dropout isn't as good as we'd like it to be, and for some reason people saying "hey these guys listen to their fans and community pretty often, this might be a good place to ask for more representation", we were met with radio silence from the company and hatred from the fandom

I want to be able to continue enjoying dropout but all the recent controversies has been making me uncomfortable. I dont want it to look like im supporting sams behaviour and I genuinely hope that he will actually acknowledge these critiques against him but im not holding my breath.

Feeling super vindicated in my increasingly growing irritation with Lisa Gilroy’s appearances on MSN in particular seeing that almost every post in the tag for her on this blog is saying similar things. On that note, I want to say that I think the episode of Gastronauts with her, Gabrus and Luenell was the absolute worst. Terrible combination of comedians for that panel - they just kept egging each other on to pull focus away from the show’s intended premise and see who could say the most out of pocket/shocking thing and it was exhausting to watch, which is especially unfortunate when the contestant lineup was maybe the strongest across the board so far. This could just be me projecting my own feelings but by the end it seemed to me like Jordan was just done with/tired of the whole judging panel , their announcement of the best challenge and closing speech seemed way more abrupt and less energetic than usual, it was a huge contrast to the enthusiasm with which they opened the episode.

confession: i love dropout dearly because i am such a big fan of nerd stuff (i mostly just watch dimension 20), but i hate that i have to keep myself so far removed from the fanbase because of how implosive it can be

it is a fantastic platform with artists and comedians who care about putting thought and intention into their work, and creating content that far surpasses all of its peers (smosh, gmm, etc.) in quality and longevity;

but so much of the fanbase of dropout expect perfection based on their own personal morals and can never be pleased. fan communities are plagued with stupid invented controversies about stuff that should be a discussion and not a hardline for support. the difference between criticism and shaming is nonexistent and it just pisses me off! dropout does so much more good than the shortcomings that the internet invents makes it seem...

Since it appears she'll be in some upcoming dropout content (game changer and smartypants), I think we can add Catherine McCafferty to the dropout roster officially. That being said, I really don't like her. She strikes me as a very self-centered and spoiled brat who needs everything to be about her. And that's not just from Pretty Gay, that's from seeing her in interviews and her own comedy work. She reminds me of too many kids that I grew up with; very spoiled and very "me me me".

And if we can include Pretty Gay in this, I find it a joke and insulting that there haven't been any gay men on the show since the 2nd season. Are there only gay women in the showrunners' minds? Or does every episode just have to be Catherine salivating over her female or non-binary but femme-presenting guest?

I mean, I say this with as much respect as I can, but like, boohoo? Gay men in queer spaces and just men in general aren't exactly starved for a platform. You don't have to like her as a person, but like, the show is gonna platform kinda whoever and if you're complaint is "women and nonbinary people are getting too much representation", I'm not gonna be very sympathetic.

There's always someone who seems to be coming for Emily's playstyle with every new season. Can you who call yourself 'fans', please allow the professionals to work: they've been doing this for nearly a decade now, so I think if anyone is qualified it'll be them!

And especially as it's Emily's! I think she does a brilliant job of tying in her abilities to her in-world character. And is everyone forgetting the fact she swallowed a FUCKING MISSILE in ep. 1?
