            Mikey was always the family’s feelings guy. he was always the one there, ready and waiting with some kind words, encouragement, advice, or comfort. but... he never allowed himself to show his own feelings. not if he could help it. there was a lot that went on in his head that his family had yet to learn about and Mikey planned to keep it that was for as long as possible.             of course, even he could slip up.             now was one of those times. he hadn’t been able to get a handle on his emotions this time around and had gotten caught. fortunately, it was by Donatello, but that still didn’t make it any easier.

            it must’ve been the look on his face because Mikey hadn’t said a word, but Donnie still seemed to be able to tell that something was bothering him. the warm and familiar weight of his older brother’s hand on his shoulder was somewhat comforting and it eased a tiny bit of the stress he was feeling, allowing him a moment to exhale a breath he hadn’t been aware he’d been holding.

            good thing Mikey had mastered the ability to look and act casual no matter what.

“     h’okay ,  dee !   everything’s  set  up  and  a - okay  for  the  experiment .     ”          mikey  double  checks  his  clipboard ,  a  small  bullet - point  list  crossed  out  twice  over  to  ensure  he’s  been  thorough  enough ,  even  for  donnie’s  standards .   unclicked  pen  tip  etches  down  the  steps ,  throwing  in  a  tiny  heart  as  he  reaches  the  bottom .   see ?   he’s  got  this !   the  perfect  lab  assistant .   portable  surface  is  passed  onto  lead  scientist ,  b - team’s  secondary  role  perking  with  a  smile  to  rival  sunshine . “     anything  else  good  ol’  mikey - g  can  help  with ?   oo -   maybe  you  need  one  of  those  mirrors  angle  adjusted ?   or --   or  maybe-  maaaaaybe ,  a  quick  polish  to  really  rub  in  the  windex  sheen !   everybody  KNOWS  a  mirror  can’t  reflect  light  without  a  proper  shine  of  its  own !     ”
