please tell me the fiber secrets I want to at least triple my fiber intake 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
yessss you got it. i am happy to help everyone start fibermaxxing. note that i am not a nutritionist but this is all stuff my nutritionist advised me to do, and it's solved virtually every digestive issue i have, so.
so the very first, basic thing you can do is just immediately swap any refined carbs you eat regularly with complex carbs, which are generally found in whole grains. this looks like:
white bread -> whole wheat bread white rice -> brown rice regular pasta -> whole wheat or plant-based pasta
just making this swap will add a boosted baseline of fiber intake that a lot of people don't even consider. people are supposed to get at least 30 grams of fiber a day (i generally clock in around 40+, give or take); this alone won't get you there, but it sets you up well to get there.
me because i will outlive my opps
my coworker brought in a cake with a whole pound of rhubarb in it and to let me know that me, someone with celiac, could Not Eat It she tagged her message like she would a tumblr post
Also not to be an annoying bitch but most of those protein marketed products ARE high in fiber bc the low carbs crowd are convinced fiber cancels out carbs. Those protein pop tarts have 9g of fiber. Idk like pay attention. The evidence of young people having higher rates of colon cancer is also one set of statistics without further analysis and a direct causation from people eating less fiber has not been proven. When everybody online is now going “we actually need to eat fiber fiber fiber fiber guys!!” that has also, guess what, become just another health trend. Yes most people could use a bit more fiber, but it’s also not a one size fits all thing and telling certain people, like people with IBS and especially IBD, to eat more fiber could actually make them very very sick.
(Waaait, it’s almost like people with IBD are much more likely to get colon cancer… and they can’t eat too much fiber or they’ll get an intestinal blockage… hmm 🤔 wonder if there’s a correlation there that could cause people to assume a lack of fiber causes colon cancer. Wouldn’t that be crazy)
