Definitely not a plakat, unless he’s some kind of mix… I’d say he’s probably a delta or veiltail, but too young for his fins to have totally grown out! Such a cutie, too.

Aah, okay, thank you both! I wasn't too sure. We don't sell plakats at petsmart, so I only really have a vague idea of their form and the differences.

I sort of hope he's a delta, just because I prefer the curved tails to the veil, but he's so pretty that I don't think I'd care either way. I normally don't like marbles but damn he's gorgeous haha!

I want to rehome my cocketiel that I've had for years and raised. Admittedly I had no idea how to take care of a parrot so she hasnt been given the best care. I was going to make a post on tumblr to find possibles homes, what do you suggest I ask to make sure she's going to someone who knows what they're doing? And is there a bird community like there is a fish community?

There absolutely is a bird community! If you have not found them yet askbirdbloggers is a great place to get started.

I, personally, would have them fill out a bunch of questions. Stuff like:

Have you had birds before?

How old are you?

If you have, do you still have them?

If you no longer have them, why?

Do you bring your birds to the vet?

How long have you had birds?

Etc. Just simple things. If they say things like "I had birds but I gave them away" then that's a huge red flag.

Nooooo even though there is one I think is really cute which is bad because I will be very sad if he/she dies. And I KNOW how likely that is right now. :c
