Hello hello! To celebrate writing 300 fics I thought I would compile in a single place links to the videos or instas or whatevers that the particular fic is referencing/based on :) Enjoy—
broken down by months under the cut— I definitely felt ,, a kind of way compiling this. I feel like it's clear which months I was struggling health-wise, but at the same time i do feel pretty proud that I wrote at least a fic in each month :) that's fun! also it reminds me that I haven't done a podfic since july and I only did a single wlw soooooo we all know what my goals for 2022 are! thank you everyone who read me for another fic filled year, especially one that was considerably different from my last few
January
"a decent chap" (T, 4.6k) collab w @calvinahobbes— “The fabled danisnotonfire.” Martyn can’t help a smirk when the poor boy’s eyes flicker quickly away from his at the mention of his Twitter handle. “Welcome. You boys want a nightcap?”
[podfic] "I'm sorry, I didn't know" (G, 7:07)— Dan checks his fringe in the reflection of the train window. It’s not a very clear image, but he can tell enough that the careful straightening he had done before leaving Manchester is still holding. A podfic about risks and lip rings.
February
"Chaos" (T, 1.7k)— This was a terrible idea. And it isn’t the first time either of them has thought of it. Waiting until the actual last possible moment to film something. A fic about procrastination and waiting.
"[podfic] Sleep (Don't Count On It)" (T, 7:51) reading of @indistinct-echo's fic— "His heartbeat quickens as conversations turn into arguments, and he finds himself defending but then surrendering to the harsher methods his mind uses against him." In the middle of the night, Phil struggles through a panic attack.
"Smoke Signals" (T, 3.2k)— It’s not like Phil is doing anything wrong. It just feels like he is. But he’s not. He knows he’s not. He knows that there’s nothing wrong with being gay and nothing wrong with wanting to kiss a guy and nothing wrong with deciding to set up a dating profile for that explicit purpose. A fic about bravery and trying.
March
"Good Things" (G, 1.8k)— Everything seems to overwhelm Phil these days. Not just the search for a new job. Not just the constant self-doubt and worry and trouble sleeping. Even things he likes are overwhelming, like Dan’s gentle squeeze of Phil’s shoulder before he walks back over to the lounge. A fic about perseverance and support.
"The Knight of Wands" (G, 1.4k)—“Robot Death Machine” was filmed while Phil was at uni and the part of Dan’s brain that likes to look for patterns because the universe can be a little beautifully random like that thinks it’s neat that he’s watching it in his own shitty uni bedroom. He’s busy thinking that Phil should wear that coat more often because he looks sexy as fuck in black when Phil pulls out a deck of tarot cards. A fic about fate and compromise.
“Do I look like a cat to you?!” (G, 319)— The closest he has to costume components is the cat ear headband and his drawn-on whiskers. If someone snapped a photo of him from the neck down, he would look just like he does on any other day really. A ficlet about effort and pairs.
“Do I look like a cat to you?!” Redux (G, 390)— Half of what Phil likes is when Dan lets himself laugh his big, real laugh, even though they’re on camera. That’s kind of been Phil’s goal for eleven years now after all: to get Dan laughing. A ficlet about laughter and fashion.
"Quick, hide me" (G, 567)— Phil is looking at his phone to double check that his train will be leaving in twenty minutes when he hears a kind of panicked whisper from right behind him. A ficlet about favors and flirting.
"That sign was a lot louder than I meant it to be" (G, 548)— The world is very loud, Phil had decided. And it is quite nice to be able to sit in silence a little while. A ficlet about aging and keeping score.
April
"Are you labeling me? And not in the metaphorical fashion, you are literally putting a label on me." (G, 361)— Phil’s first jeans purchase post-Topman is risky. A ficlet about wear and length.
"Time to ruin everything" (G, 479)— Dan wonders if he’s ever going to miss this part. A ficlet about risks and early days.
"More" (E, 1.3k)— In the kitchen, a long-coveted breakfast bar. They had been yearning to have one of those again since their Manchester days. A fic about heights and creaks.
"Post Its" (G, 388)— A handful of some of the many post it notes Dan and Phil have left for each other through the years.
"...Please stop talking" (T, 483)— Phil doesn’t want to wake up yet, he just wants to keep his eyes closed and stay suspended in this comfort. A ficlet about grumpiness and fun facts.
May
"They deny it, but they have no idea what they’re doing." (G, 484)— They’re sat on the sofa but the flat feels too quiet now that Bryony has headed home. She’s spent the day unloading her feelings and using both their shoulders alternately to cry on or to shove depending on what she needed. The breakup with Wirrow might have been a long time coming, but it’s still emotional. A ficlet about breaking up and checking in.
June
"[podfic] Boys Like You" (G, 4:39) reading of @letgladnessdwell's fic—A fic about running and remembering oneself.
"Moving Day" (T, 4.1k)— Little looks into the many different times Phil Lester has moved house. A fic about boxes and change.
July
"Decode" (G, 2.1k)— They’re getting closer, aren’t they? The walls… He’s sure that’s part of the puzzle, right? They aren’t actually getting closer but some optical illusion is making it feel like they are. None of this is real. It’s all meant to be fun. Only, it isn’t fun anymore. A fic about shaky hands and puzzles.
"[podfic] Hometown Pride" (T, 8:51) reading of @ahappydnp's fic—Dan takes Phil around Wokingham.
"Sunkissed" (G, 1.2k)—Phoebe isn’t a swimmer. But that somehow makes her love this all the more— the holiday quiet, the lull between legs of their world tour, the sound of the Australian jungle around them but other than that only the sound of Phoebe kicking and splashing. A fic about playing and rationales.
"Bait and Switch" (T, 1k)—“I’ll kiss it better,” Phil says through a barely contained laugh. Dan lets him. It’s a pretty fair trade off. He needed to stop staring at his script anyways, and here is his favorite distraction in the goddamn world. A fic about distractions and japes.
August
"I’m a romantic, I know all the pick-up-lines. Every single one." (G, 445)— “She’s gonna start dating again,” Dan says, looking at his phone with an expression that Phil— despite his many years of experience— simply can’t parse out. Not entirely. A ficlet about flirting and offered help.
“Know this; I have all the baggage." (T, 706)— The guy is awake when Phil gets back to the bedroom. He’s on his phone and Phil scrambles through his brain to pull up a name. “Dan,” he says a little too quickly once he remembers. His voice has cracked with morning and the sound startles them both. A ficlet about nights before and mornings after.
"Railing Rail" (E, 1k)— “Mr. wants-a-literal-bridge-built-in-the-middle-of-the-hallway is afraid to ask the interior designer for a sex rail on the headboard,” Dan rolls his eyes. A fic about modifications and practicality.
September
"Liminal" (G, 1k)— Phil doesn’t remember when autumn got so cold. He only knows he’s shivering enough in his bed to climb out and crawl to his dresser and grab socks for his frozen toes. Climbing back into the bed hurts more than it should. A bone deep, gut deep, sort of hurt. A fic about crispness and wants.
October
"Leaning on a Shoulder" (G, 307)— Dan bends his neck and his head is leaning on Phil’s shoulder. A curl that is desperately fighting against the straightening his hair endured this morning, fighting with the power of a muggy summer day, tickles Phil’s neck. A ficlet about sharing space and focus.
"Holding Hands" (G, 451)— Now that Dan is jolted back to what has happened since— they returned safely to the ground, Dan stuttered something about being ready to head back to Phil’s, they made their way to the bus stop— he boards and pays and looks for the right seat. A ficlet about nerves and zooming in.
"Cuddling" (G, 540)— Phil leans back to look at him and blinks, waiting for the swirling thoughts to catch up to him. “I… well, I’ve got to move back home. I can’t be all the way down here. What if he…” He shakes his head, unwilling and unable to finish that particular thought. A ficlet about planning and promising.
"On The Road" (T, 2.5k not complete)— Phil still isn’t quite used to it all being okay. He isn’t used to Dan not fearfully dissecting a tweet reply that called them queer icons. He isn’t used to things like what the two teenagers they bumped into at the airport said when they stuttered out, “I met my girlfriend because of you,” feeling only good. No twinge of bittersweet. A fic about changes and landscape.
November
"Piggy Back Rides" (G, 372)— “You know the last time I did this, I ended up in a cast, right?” Phil laughs. A ficlet about playing and winning.

"Massage" (G, 712)— Dan needs an anchor. He needs something to hold him steady. He rolls over onto his stomach and calls out for Phil. A ficlet about bad days and bed days.
December
"Dancing" (G, 391)— There isn’t any other sound though, and when Phil steps into the room he sees why. Dan has his headphones on, a silent disco for just himself. A ficlet about chores and movement.
"Magi" (T, 4.5k)— Dan doesn’t know how he hadn't thought about a gift for Phil yet. Phil is still feeling a little weird about how much he spent on Dan’s gift. A fic about coincidence and sacrifice.
