on the one hand I get jealous of writers who can post a quality 3000+ word fic every month, on the other I uselessly poked at a thing multiple times in October only for it to start crystalizing in my head in the past few days. so.

Is anyone else hopelessly stuck on what to write for the sidgenoficexchange? Like the person I matched with asked for stuff that is 100% up my alley and stuff I love to write but I'm drawing a blank. I kind of want to write a prequel to Heart is Full (Sid is a teen parent fic) but that would totally give away who I am and that ruins the fun of an anonymous fic exchange.

Ugh. What am I going to do? Anyone have a good prompt list they enjoy?

Ugh, I hate going back and reading earlier chapters of your fic only to realize that you overuse a word. There really should be a name for the cringe-inducing embarrassment that follows.

For some reason, the way ASOIAF bedding ceremonies are treated in fic annoys me. The in-universe perspective on it is usually way too modern. Like canon era!Ned not forbidding the ceremony at his and Cat’s wedding -- despite it happening in canon. Or a bride fighting off the guests like this wasn’t a common and accepted Westrosi tradition. 

That’s not to say I agree with it. I could totally understand a fic having an outside question it, much like the show had Talisa basically say WTF, at Edmure and Roslin’s wedding. But it just throws me write out of the fic when a Westrosi character starts regarding their own tradition through the lens of a modern, real world person. 

It also worries me since I’m writing a fic with a bedding ceremony in it that sticks with Westeros customs.
