perhaps as an explanation for why apo is both 1. so resistant to the idea of the supernatural being real why 2. tolerating it so much to the degree she hasn’t dropped any of this yet and it isn’t a dealbreaker for her interest in abolish, she was also raised in a cult? Somewhere with a belief in spirits and demons, and Apo specifically had to deny that she was a demon multiple times to the degree that, once she got out and transitioned, the idea that she was just a normal person was very reinforced, while also skewing her idea of what normal beliefs were. This also lets us give Apo tragic backstory potential + the ability go Reality Destroying Demon mode and then immediately memory hole it. For drama

Ooooo I love it. Personally I've been basing it off of my friendgroup in highschool - so many of them are/were pagan and witchy and we went "ghost hunting" (spooked ourselves in the cemetery after dark) and did spells, and I don't believe in any of that but I was there to hang out with my friends, yk? Do I believe we communed with any spirits? No. I believed it was important to them and we got pizza after. Apo's just not as nice as me lmao

But yes Apo being called a demon child a lot growing up - maybe exorcised for the first time then - and insisting she's not a demon, she's not, she's a normal kid and she deserves to be loved and deserves to live a normal life! Apokuna left that place, she left all that behind, and Abolish clearly isn't out of a similar place. Their situations are different but the same.

She's not a demon. Supernatural stuff isn't real. Otherwise her parents were right, and they weren't even right about having a daughter.

(before anyone replies to this post i want to say, trans woman/girls, trans men/boys, & nonbinary people all experience transphobia & it is never deserved.)

i feel i'm the only person who thinks Dr Habit being a trans woman (or otherwise tranfem nonbinary) is basically canon supported.

i have also thought a bit about Habit being intersex & having an inconsistant SIG (socially imposed gender) but i also haven't seen that. i have seen a few people headcanoning Habit as intersex though & that's very cool!

i'm fine with other gender headcanons, hell i'm a fan of Dipper from gravity falls being a trans girl, i'd be a hypocrite if i wasn't.

but i just don't get why Habit is almost exlusively fanon-ed as a trans man or otherwise transmasc. We see Habits backstory, we see Habit get punished for doing something stereotypically feminine (gardening) & unless Habit is a trans man with an inconsistant SIG i don't get why Habit would be punished for being feminine by a transphobic person.

Like it could be socially acceptable for some castes to transition but not all.

I have no idea how social structure would be On the Island though. I imagine it’s mostly clanless expatriates

Tbh, while the trans headcanons for Pa-San fits VERY well, and I can see her discovering herself after dropping out of school I flipflop between accepting it as her being trans being the logical reason she struggles to find a lover despite being a drop-dead gorgeous vidstreamer is just too sad for me sometimes.

So I flip the switch on accepting headcanon depending on mood.

"Clash" 2022 Lortober prompt

CW: transphobic viewpoint, distress of said trans person as a result and implied emotional abuse. The ending involves the escape of said trans character from the abusive situation.

I was lying in a small den. Hiding might be a better word, actually. No-one slept here anymore, since it gets damp and muddy in rainy weather, so I could come here to get some peace. Goldsea is full of fairly standoffish wolves, but the Sharpfang clan is way worse than that. I’m probably the unluckiest wolf in all of Loria, to be stuck with the most hostile, warmongering pack this side of the continent

I would probably join another clan if I thought I would be happier there, but all the other nomadic colonies of wolves that pass by us are extremely hostile to me. Probably because I was born in a clan that’s infamous for its tendencies to look for any excuse to go to war. If they even let me come with them, Sharpfang family members would seek them out as revenge for the perceived slight. So I’m stuck here. Trapped in my clan, trapped in this body, trapped in this stupid life.

I can hear another wolf padding by. Great, another “training season” lecture.

“Jasper. Get up,”  my mother growled, “your father was looking everywhere for you. The other men all started without you. You know the schedule.”

“My name’s not Jasper, mother,” I sigh, “and I’m going to train with the other women. I told you this already.”

I turned my head to see her face in a snarl, “Okay, Amber,” she spewed with the expected amount of vitriol, “but I told you that you still needed to train with the men.”

I stood up to face her properly, looking down at her, “What, so you can ignore the fact that anything’s changed?” I said coldly, but still calmly “I want to do the same work as the rest of the women, so I need to train with the women,” then I add, “I won’t settle for being trained separately, either, since new pups are trained with the rest of the group, so why couldn’t I?”

“I don’t want to hear this rant from you again. You are bigger and stronger than the real women and so the clan needs you to train with the men because we can’t grow and expand if we don’t have the strongest wolves paving the way. You could never be as elegant and precise as the rest of us, so this is just how it must be. Our bulkiest female clanmates also train with them. I love you, but this is what’s best for you and your clanmates.”

I flinch at the nasty jabs riddled through her speech, and yell, “NO! You don’t love me, that’s the problem! You love your imaginary son, but he doesn’t exist! He never did!”

Tears stream down my face. I can’t believe that this liar even dares to look at me, let alone speak to me! I shove past her. I need to get away. If I can’t trust the wolves around me to care then I’ll just have to go to another pack. Anything is better than this. Anything!

Before I realised it, I was running as fast as I could. Surely there was someone out there that could help me. I just had to do something, anything, to get away…

You guys wanna hear this dream I had last night? It's a two-parter.

Okay so for the majority of the dream I was kind of in Barry Bluejean's perspective, kind of in Lucretia's, in that I was trying to round up everybody back together, to be able to defeat the bad thing. I found Taako first, and slowly we got the others back. But no one had their memories. Lucretia held onto them, so I had to try and explain why we needed each other, memories or no. We had everyone, even LUP, and rounded us up st this gymnasium where a Green Day/Dixie Chicks concert was going on.

I'm skipping over a LOT of teambuilding here, but they were still a pretty scatterbrained group. Taako was flighty and Magnus was antsy and Davenport was kind of oblivious to the tension.

A villain announces in 4 out of thr possible 6 following outcomes, everybody in the gym dies bc the support structure of the stands are weak. A mass panic ensues and Taako is already out the door. The rest of the team work together to get everybody out safely, including Angus who they found at the concert.

They finally catch up to Taako and Lucretia explains how they all knew each other before. I've been my own self as a character with them for most of the dream at this point. We're in the living room of the starblaster a few days after we get our.memories back. I gather them there and feel safer with them.

I ask them if they wouldn't mind calling me Mark from then on. At least when we're at home. They ask why. I tell them it's because I'm a trans man.

A couple shake their heads, Merle and Lucretia. Magnus just says "No, I won't."

I ask him why, kinda surprised they refused.

"Because I don't think you're trans," he told me.

I started crying very hard, bc my family didn't believe me. I couldn't believe they didn't believe me. (I couldn't hear very well after I ran out of the room, but I did hear Lup start yelling something at Magnus)

I ran upstairs to my room, slammed the door, and dived into bed.

I delved into a second dream, where I was a pokemon trainer, running through the rain into the next town, straight to the Pokemon center.

Except the Pokemon center wasn't quite...right. once in you couldn't leave. People were trapped in there pvp style, running around the layout with improvised weapons, trying to fight and kill. You could bring your pokemon out, but if you lost the other trainer took them, or killed them entirely.

Once enough of us defeated the top level, a basement door opened, and we descended warily. A disembodied voice gave instructions, and monsters jumped from the shadows and we had to fend for ourselves to the death.

It was a lot more jump scare horror and vicious fighting than I could easily describe, but when I woke up for real I was sweating and crying.

So. A bad time in my dreams last night.
