Fiddlehead Ferns with Burrata and Terragon
This journal page is Old [from my trip to see my partner in June] but life has kind of been a shitshow since I got home from that and I kept not wanting to post it because its a happy thing and "didn't feel right" to post when *I'm* not happy. But the more time goes on, and the harder things get, the more I realize we have to make our OWN joy sometimes. and Choose it, even when it feels impossible. So in the spirit of that, here are some cute things I Did/Saw/Ate/Bought/Made in Alaska this summer

Day 5, Fiddleheads
Late because I wanted to paint this one really bad. It ended up not what I wanted so I went a bit ham on the editing. . .
The Emperor's Fiddlehead Soup
Not gonna lie, this looks *really* good and I want to make it, but the big issue is fiddleheads
As far as I can tell, they're not farmed, only wild-foraged, and they're only in season for a very short time (April / May). You can get them shipped while they're in season though!
What I'm curious about: What do y'all think an acceptable alternative might be while waiting for fiddlehead season to roll around again?
