Fidel’s guidance in all of Cuba’s struggles

These days Cuba is recovering from an unprecedented fire, which has kept Matanzas, the whole island, and especially rescuers, firefighters, and authorities on full alert since the night of August 5. However, amid pain and agony, Cuba has one great consolation: since 1959, the people have never been alone in struggles, accidents, or catastrophes of any kind. Fidel never permitted it. Today, when the island remembers the 96th anniversary of his birth, the sixth that has passed without his physical presence, the people proved once again that his ideas and his example do not abandon them.

En Cuba, 'Recordamos a Lenin como recordamos a Fidel'

A Lenin, a 97 años de su muerte, lo recordamos aquí como recordamos a Fidel, nuestro Lenin, el Lenin de los pueblos del Tercer Mundo. Lo recordamos aquí en esta Isla, donde los bolcheviques de ahora, defensores del extremo redentor de los desposeídos, nos mantenemos empeñados en ser trinchera contra el imperio, convencidos de que estos 62 años de estremecer al mundo son la víspera de tomar al cielo por asalto.

Cuba is paying tribute to the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, with many tributes dedicated to remembering his legacy on the third anniversary of his physical passing.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said:  "How to remember Fidel? Assuming his legacy as ours, confronting imperialism with courage and firmness, working and thinking for the people, fighting for a better world.”

On the steps of the University of Havana, the University Student Federation, the Young Communist League, and people from all walks of life will participate in a political and cultural evening to remember Fidel.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people held pilgrimages to the patrimonial Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, where his ashes are interred.

According to data provided by the management of the necropolis, during the three years since his passing, more than 1.8 million people have visited Santa Ifigenia to express in the most different ways their respect and admiration for the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Cheryl LaBash: Lo que Fidel significa hoy para mí

Discurso de Cheryl LaBash en un panel organizado por la Embajada de Cuba en los Estados Unidos como un homenaje a la vida de Fidel Castro. LaBash es copresidenta de la Red Nacional sobre Cuba.

Me siento muy honrada de estar hoy en este panel. No tengo una historia personal profunda como la que hemos escuchado en los últimos dos años sobre el trabajo en conjunto con el líder histórico de Cuba, Fidel Castro, cuya vida, trabajo y ejemplo recordamos hoy aquí. Realmente he sido la joven en la fila de atrás, que aunque ahora ya no es joven y a menudo ya no está en la fila de atrás, todavía trata de absorber lecciones de la revolución cubana, de entender el mundo y actuar para cambiarlo.
