Writing the labels for plant samples.
Moss and liverwort collection for field botany
Saw lots of very cool plants today in the Styx valley. This class has been so cool, tomorrow we are looking at MOSS.
An update of my field botany class
Today we were in the field from 9am to 8pm , huge hike but with a lot of stops to look at plants along the way.
(Sorry if some of the photos are sideways)
We have to collect plant specimens to press and submit a plant collection. And later we also have to write a Wikipedia article for a plant that doesn't have a page already. There are so many unique species in the alpine regions of Tasmania, a lot of them are paleoendemic.
taking my field botany final aka yelling “TELL ME WHAT YOU ARE” at various twigs
All prepped for botany field camp. Officeworks was crazy with the back-to-school rush but I finally got my waterproof notebooks 😁
Added fruit from my yew shrubs (taxus spp.)to the poison jar. Accidentally squished it while trying to remove the cork, which has pressurized a little due to some rot going on. The cork is good so it isn’t making any sort of smell, but I think I’ll clean it out and restart in the spring? I don’t really have any other reason for doing this other than keeping my field botany skills alive, may try to make some sort of witchy metaphor about seasonality and toxicity or something like that lmao.
