…because the world is ending.

If Kurogane ever had to paint a picture of the apocalypse he never would have been able to imagine something so horrific as this - water in abundance that ate away at stone, steel, and flesh while potable water was jealously guarded and rationed; bodies left to decay in piles as a warning to others that might dare trespass; people starved and broken, clinging to any hope that there might be some salvation. And yet, all of it pales in comparison to his own personal armaggedon playing out right before his eyes.

They are all broken, if not in body then certainly in spirit. Syaoran was taken from them, exchanged for another one only freshly freed from the prison of the bastard who has caused them all such pain. Tears fall from Sakura’s eyes even as she sleeps, heartbroken. Kurogane is covered in his blood and Fai's, clutching tightly (but not too tightly, he is hyper aware of how fragile the body in his arms feels and will not allow himself to cause an ounce more damage to it) to his unconscious form. He listens intently to each shallow breath, measuring them against one another to see if Fai is fading.

He thinks his heart hurts worse than the burns on his back at the moment.

They follow the small crowd of witnesses, the last people of a dying world, and the two reunited vampires away from the now empty reservoir and Kurogane tries not to think about how long these people have before they all die.

The medicine here is low, and the knowledge possibly even lower. Fear begins to creep up from deep within Kurogane’s gut, and it is a losing battle to force it back down. It burns his throat and threatens to falter his footsteps.

Sakura is physically unharmed. This new Syaoran will need some tending, but he seems as strong-willed and determined as the other, so Kurogane knows he will be fine. Kurogane is in pain, but he will live. Fai... Fai he is not so sure about.

There is so much left unsaid between them, and their last conversation - an argument of all things! - replays itself again and again in his mind.

Without thinking, thankful he is the last of the group climbing the stairs, he presses a barely there kiss to Fai’s unbloodied temple, and wordlessly promises to keep him alive, no matter the cost.

Shiny black hair, bobbed into a shaggy style, swung about his face neatly as he tipped it up -and up, and up, wow- to look at the woman slightly behind and to the left of him, and the trembling hollow in Fai’s chest where her heart had once been was abruptly filled with fizzing strawberry champagne, bubbles popping and tickling delight all through her veins. Dear Santa, if I promise to be a very good girl and play nice with the corporate dipshits who buy my coffee and not kick anyone in the gonads who really doesn’t deserve it, may I please have that in my stocking this Christmas? She was tall and dark and radiating the kind of menace that would sell like high-class perfume if only you could bottle it, and the long glossy fall of her ponytail trembled with the softest of waves as it slid over one broad shoulder, her face framed perfectly by the fall of her fringe. The cut of her suit was almost as sharp as her eyes as they glanced over Fai, leaving a tingling wash of heat in their wake, and lips that looked full and surprisingly soft parted gently, her voice a husky growl when she spoke. “This will do.”

@fieldofclover has commissioned me to draw the scene where Kurogane and Fai meet from her r!63 fic “Be My Dangerous Girl” which is honestly one of the best marriages of action and comedy I’ve ever witnessed. if you haven’t read this oldie but goodie I highly suggest it.  action, romance, laughs for miles, and Fai’s internal monologue being exactly what all of us are thinking about Kurogane on any given day. not to mention the delightful Tomoyo who is along for the ride. (and if you wanna spice it up afterwards, the sequel is beautifully steamy)

7. Kissing headcanon 

Saitama is a Dumb Bitch™ and we all know it, so he’s not exactly spectacular at kissing. He dated here and there through his life, he’s not incompetent, but it’s not like he knows how to blow someone’s socks off.

(It helps that Genos has even less experience than he does, so he doesn’t realize Saitama could be better)

He does, however, like kissing quite a bit. It’s a safe activity. You don’t have to confront feelings or talk to the other person or make eye contact. You just make sure the mouths are lined up okay and go to town.

It’s also a good way to express your feelings when words are hard. A surge of affection that would sound dumb if you tried to say it? Kiss instead. Want to show them you’re thinking of them without interrupting what they’re writing? Smooch on the head. Want to make sure they remember there’s someone that cares about them before they go and get broken all over the street again? Kiss on the cheek as you wish them good luck.

this is a really cool idea, but also I keep thinking of Fuuma and I don't like it

i have to confess, when CLAMP said “Fuuma always looks like the person who means the most to whoever is looking at him” i just kinda had to take their word for it, because all the faces in X/1999 looked the same to me anyway
