20 minutes into my first homework assignment of the year (thanks Harvard HKS) and I'm already starting to get anxiety. What am I doing trying to take a Real Estate Finance Fundamentals course? My brain does not want to think about the financial objectives for the five primary components of return. The whole point of this is to make people a bunch of money! I don't really care about doing that. I just want to keep reading interesting things and writing my own semi-interesting things! Can't I just keep doing that? Oh wait, no I can't, because if I'm going to pay $40,000 (more when taking the interest on my loans into account), I better get something more out of this degree than just some book knowledge. I can read whenever I want! Now I need to learn something "practical." What I definitely can and should do is begin practicing my "I'm going to care less this year" attitude towards my work. Can't I just watch more Gilmore Girls? I mean, 5 seasons in 3 months isn't enough, and I want Jess to come back! More importantly, can it just be Thursday already? I'm too impatient.
