𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: finished chapter 1, started and finished chapter 2, started chapter 3.
Progress was slow this week, but Nano assures me I’ll be finished by September 15 of this year if I keep up this pace, which is not bad for me. I’m sure I’ll pick up speed, though, once I’m finished with the TOEFL and all the other papers for the university applications. Alas, for now, this’ll have to do.
I’m thinking of rewriting my entire outline, making it less of a mess (the mess is absolutely Hide’s fault, what with popping in like that unannounced while I was wrapping up.)
In terms of content, I’m very pleased with the way the first chapter shaped up. RT did come up to me and said, “Lady, you got my personality all wrong.” I had to do some extra work there but it’s fine. I love the kid. I’d also like to think I nailed Jehona’s voice but that remains to be determined by editor-me, later on. The second chapter was also a delight to write— Nay, Kass was an absolute delight to write. I didn’t encounter any problems with her voice either. Both girls have their own distinct voices, both are really fun to write.
Same cannot be said for the third chapter, however. There’s a lot of information that needs to be revealed in order to properly set up everything and I’m struggling not to fall into the trap of exposition. I also haven’t been in a writing mood these last two days and that’s not helping either but oh well. Grinding every day is not realistic so I’m giving myself leeway.
