The impossible dream

I ultimately want qualifications in mechanical and environmental engineering. Because my sister is already studying to become an engineer and my parents don't believe in me at all, I feel like such an achievement is absolutely impossible.

I have good intentions in gaining such skills. I don't want glory but I do want to feel skilled and capable enough. I want to help people who are isolated and have been neglected - this is a delicate task and requires a lot of expertise and experience.

I don't want to be an engineer for glory, fame or admiration, I want to be an engineer because I feel like it can help me become who I want to be - I certainly don't want to become other people's concept of who I am.

I know that no matter what happens, in the end, I'll be able to use myself as an example when I strive to inspire and encourage people.
