Dismounting my horse I slowly walked it over to the finished area of the fence seeing the Bunkhouse gang was working on the next section a few steps ahead of me. Carrying my bag of tools that was inside my saddle bag I gently touched my boyfriend Rip Wheeler's shoulder attempting to get his attention. “Hey baby, how can I help with the fencing?”
“Y/n, not now. I don't have time to talk with you.” He grumbled in my direction watching the group of boys and Teeter.
I tried to explain my situation to him since he clearly didn't understand what I had said to him. “Rip, I'm not trying to pull you away from work. I am offering to help y'all and get the job done a little faster. If you'll have me of course.”
“Y/n, I can't talk right now!” Rip spun around on his feet shouting in my face.
Blinking my eyes a few times my mouth fell open, surprised at the words that had come from his mouth. He turned his back to me, stomping off giving me the chance to run back to my horse. Climbing on it I gallop back to the main house halting in my tracks and rushing inside the front door. Finding my bedroom I flopped down onto the mattress and sobbed for hours.
“Y/n, dinner is ready. Hey, are you okay? Why are you crying?” A few hours later I heard footsteps come inside my room making me lightly lift my head up from the pillows.
I saw it was my best friend Beth coming into the bedroom and sat down on the edge of the bed. “I started my period.”
“Sorry honey. But I knew you're lying. You don't ever cry this much when you're on your period.” She told me gently brushing some hair out of my face seeing my eyes were bloodshot red from crying. “So what exactly is really bothering you?”
Sniffing, I wiped my hand underneath my nose. “Rip is angry with me.”
“Angry with you over what exactly?” She knitted her brows at me.
Shifting up I sat upright hugging my knees against my chest meeting her gaze. “I asked him how I could help fix the fence faster and next thing I knew he was shouting in my face for no reason other than he’s mad at me for some unknown reason.”
“He certainly can't be mad at you. He loves you more than anything.” She got up from the bed slipping out the door. “I'll go talk to him.”
I called her name not wanting her to make the situation worse. “Beth, please don’t.”
“I'm on it.” She hollered walking down the hallway leaving me alone in my room for a few minutes. Running a hand through my locks of hair getting up from my bed standing in front of the window. Silence filled the bedroom for a few more minutes until I heard someone walking up behind me.
“Y/n, can we talk?” Rip's voice filled the bedroom that we sometimes shared when he wasn't sleeping at the Foreman's Cabin.
“I suppose. Unless you'd rather yell at me since you're angry with me.”
The loyal worker of John Dutton questioned out into the air. “Why would I be angry with you, darlin’?”
“You tell me, cowboy.” I rolled my eyes, turning around so I was facing him and resting my back against the window seal behind me. “Clearly I have done something to piss you off.”
Rip and I had agreed when we started dating that we would be honest with each other about everything. We would never go to bed angry with the other. “Y/n, I don’t understand what you're talking about. So could you tell me why you think I'm angry with you and we can figure this out since we agreed to not fight with each other.”
“I came out to the fencing area to offer my help. I tried to ask you how I could help and next thing I knew you were shouting in my face.” Throwing my hands up in the air I raised my voice at the cowboy in front of me. He simply just stood there with one hand on his hip simply letting me get my rant out. “The only conclusion I can come up with is that you were pissed at me before I got there and I just had no freaking clue!”
Rip slowly crossed the room running his hands down my shoulders using a much calmer tone than earlier in the day. “Listen to me, I'm sorry I snapped at you. When you came up to me I was frustrated with Walker who was just standing around doing nothing. I never intended my anger to be directed at you.”
“Oh, I'm sorry I judged you too quickly and thought that you were angry with me.” Lowering my gaze to my boots with a weak expression on my face till he lifted my chin up with his hand making me look into his face.
“I'm sorry are two words you never have to say to me.”
I whispered back to him. “Do you really mean that?”
“I love you, honey.’ He cupped my face in his hands resting his forehead down onto mine whispering back to me. “I’m sorry for losing my temper. It won’t happen ever again.”
Throwing my arms around his neck I buried my face into his shoulder kissing the side of his cheek sniffing back some happy tears. “I forgive you and I love you too, Rip Wheeler.”
