Alexandra Mikhailovna Balashova (1887-1979) was a principal dancer at the Bolshoi Theatre starting in 1905. Having married the industrialist Alexei Ushkov, the couple moved to France in 1921 and Balashova continued to dance in the West for a further ten years. Later, she taught dance and was a choreographer.
