The riot of colors captivates the viewer and, like a whirlpool, draws him into the ongoing action. On a green meadow, depicted rather conventionally, five peasant women are dancing. They are not embarrassed by a sudden gust of wind that lifts the hems of sundresses.

Though the Russian painter Filipp Malyavin is more known for his red paintings of peasant women, I really like two of his women’s portraits, this being one of them.

Very lively and intense. 

And I really enjoy the light here - as if she stands right in front of you.
