WANG HONG YI AS QUAN SHENG TANG
FILTER (滤镜) Ep. 15 (2025)
I am sobbing, I just finished Filter with tan jianci and li landi, written by tong hua. The ending was so lovely and bittersweet, the message was so important--not about how perfect we looked at the end of the day but about how real we were and that we lived, with the good and bad and messy moments, creating a life that is uniquely our own. I am WEEPING. I am so moved by this sweet, uplifting, hilarious drama at this point in 2025 where beauty standards and the beauty industry is so so harsh and hard on us. I love this drama so much, it's been so long since I've been able to finish a modern Chinese drama. 10/10, would recommend!!!!
How it started:
How it's going:
Her life would be so much easier if she just knew how to say No and put her phones on silent or vibrate.
finished filter and it might be my favourite cdrama i've watched yet. possibly one of my favourite asian dramas i've watched as a whole? the dynamics between the characters feel so refreshing and fun and unique and the premise was actually really well executed! the characters are believably flawed. i think the second leads were one of my favourite parts bc their chemistry and the dynamic between them was adorable, but i loved the main leads after they got over the miscommunication drama and finally saw each other for real.
i personally quite like that we got those last couple eps to see them - and esp chengcheng - be happy and fulfilled in her relationships and friendships and her career. such a stark difference from where we first met her and it's so nice to see her in such a positive place 😭 i think my main complaint would be i wish we got to learn more about tang qi's background. i feel like we learned more abt gu yu's childhood than we did tang qi - would've been nice to learn a bit more abt him bc the most we rlly learned unless i'm missing smth was "he was popular in school & he has an eye condition"
I decided to check filter out and that interview in ep. 1 cracked me up so bad 😂😂😂😂
girlie submitted her resume with an over edited picture of herself, looking like she's been (into the wise words of gob bluth) "airbrushed into oblivion" with falsies and all (obv her friend used that meitu app to the max 😉😉😉) and hoped nobody would notice
like she showed up with her resume photo looking somewhat like this
and thought nobody would say anything to her. Also, sending her away over a simple edited photo was kinda diabolical tbh, that guy deserved a slap across the cheek
And like GIRL YOU AREN'T EVEN UGLY WHAT YOU ON ABOUT?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh, I'm so wrong. I thought tong hua was a great writer for being able to write and balance both tragedies (Lost You Forever) and comedies (Filter). Actually, Filter is actually a tragedy/horror in disguise about one man losing the one(s) he loves in all kinds of ways. So tong hua truly is a genius in being able to make me cry while laughing.
If cdrama cinema weren't cowards, we would see tang qi fall in love with quan shengtang!! This is my 1 annoyance with this drama.
