Why yes, I have an inherent physical reflex to click the link the moment grades are released, no matter what else I may be doing...

That megapaper turned out so-so, about what I expected. Prof even commented that he was excited by the fresh ideas I’d brought to the theory, but was unclear why I hadn’t followed through as strongly. So the rabbit did make it out of the hat, but hopped away. Which was no surprise. I simply didn’t have time to pull up the rest of the proposal to the same level.

But overall, I did get the grade I wanted for the course, and I still feel like I could look Prof in the eye and have a continuing conversation with him about it, and those are every bit as important as one paper grade, in Grad school.

Time for cocoa.

Dear professors,

I know active voice is better for formal papers. However, I have anxiety and don’t like sounding accusatory unless I mean it, which I typically don’t in formal papers. So, you will rip my passive voice sentences from my cold dead fingers 😡.

do you guys ever get thinking like “there are real things happening in the world right now that i should pay attention to but instead i’m writing a 2500 word essay on comparing human nature in Gulliver’s Travels to Rasselas” ??

it’s like i’m freaking out because i can’t find a source for Rasselas but there are other really important things going on in the world that i have to blind myself to because i have to focus on this stupid essay that has no cultural or modern relevance

ok, i’ve officially submitted a request for late withdrawal from the course that has been my fucking albatross all term. my mentor assures me that the department will approve the request (or face her wrath), and therefore i do not have to worry about that paper anymore, in any way, shape, or form. now i can focus in on the 14pp paper that’s due on monday and try to bang that out--i’ve got about 5 days (although i also have a [virtual] stack of essays to grade by sunday night as well).

4.26.18 It’s Over!!!!

I handed in my last two papers today so I’m done with college! Aaaahhh!! It’s so crazy and now I can wear my alumni hat and actually be an alumnus. I’m freaking out :D My family comes up tomorrow and I spent the rest of the evening cleaning my apartment, doing laundry, and washing the dishes for the last time. It finally hit me that this year is ending and I am going home and I cried. I was hanging out with one of my friends and I’m so sad. She and I met relatively recently and I’m going to miss her so much. I’m going to miss my other friends so much! This is crazy.
