do you guys ever get thinking like “there are real things happening in the world right now that i should pay attention to but instead i’m writing a 2500 word essay on comparing human nature in Gulliver’s Travels to Rasselas” ??
it’s like i’m freaking out because i can’t find a source for Rasselas but there are other really important things going on in the world that i have to blind myself to because i have to focus on this stupid essay that has no cultural or modern relevance

day 17: i watched a TedTalk called “The Lies Our Culture Tells Us About What Matters,” the speaker wasn’t the best, but his message really resonated with me. he stated that some of the roots to our problems as nation stem from what we are told and believe matters, as a society. we currently value individual happiness and success, but that’s driving everyone apart. it goes against our nature as human beings. we were meant to build communities that can rely on one another—our joy comes from meaningful connections and relationships.
day 24: my ideal autumn day...i actually think i had my ideal autumn day when i went home two weeks ago. i woke up around 10 and took time to do my morning routine. my mom made eggs and pancakes, and my dad made strong coffee. my sister and i went to the coffee shop and did homework in the quiet ambience and café music. then we went to the park and took a long walk—taking pictures, talking, and enjoying the beautiful weather (i took some really cool pics of her and the day; should i post them?) later that night the four of us siblings went on a sibling date and got fired pizza and went to target and filled around. that night i went to my friends apartment and we talked for hours and caught up with each other. it was a great day—i think about it and just get a feeling of relaxation and contentment

day 23: today was long. but very enjoyable in some moments. made one of my catch-up challeneg posts. took some pictures of the beautiful day as i was walking from class to class. my time in the library was sort of productive but i couldn’t focus very much, but i did get some work done—which is what’s important! i, then, made my breakfast for tomorrow (overnight oats! so easy and so yummy), then journaled while listening to music. it took me extra long to journal bc i kept stopping to jam to my music xD
i’m proud of myself for not letting the tough moments of the day rule the day. there were a lot of times today when i could’ve just thrown my hands up and said “fuck it!” and given up on trying my best, but i didn’t! today wasn’t completely great and wasn’t completely bad—it was just a day and i’m okay with that
