so one of the side effects of the mako procedures that everyone in SOLDIER underwent is that if you focused really hard, you could make the mako in your eyes glow. (like, actually, vibrantly shine, not just the inate glow usually associated with mako eyes) no one could hold it for more than a few seconds without getting a wicked migraine

so, of course, when we were like 15, zack was once out of commission for two whole days because he wanted to make his eyes glow for a full minute.
