Been ages since I posted an addition to this series... It's Kinji's turn!
Some of these names have a lot more difficult to come up with than others, but I ended up going with something more simple here. Coming up with lore for him within Equestria was kinda interesting, since Catholicism doesn't exist in MLP lol.
Mourning Dove is something like a wandering cleric. He spends his time aiding others through dark times; especially grief and loss. Dove also presides over ceremonies like funerals and weddings, as well as other traditions.
When it comes to magic, he is very good at light magic; illumination, manipulation or removal of light sources, and things like that. He knows spells which can suck the light out of nearby light sources, and is more than capable of creating new ones. His magic is a pale gold, like the glow cast by a candle.
When he was a colt, he was adopted by a family shepherds. He left their lands to become a wandering cleric, but still holds on to a staff from his father and visits them frequently. The town he grew up in with them regularly took in orphans, and when he got older, he helped found an actual orphanage there. While at home, he can often be found caring for and playing with them. Also, a good amount of the income he earns presiding over ceremonies goes towards running the orphanage.
Though Dove is a bit distant, he's more than willing to have thoughtful conversations and is an excellent listener. He has had a deep conversation with almost everypony in this AU's "main cast."
WIP Wednesday
Jonathan lets out a long groan, facing his phone, the screen now turned black. “He’s just your best friend,” he mutters to himself. “This shouldn’t be so hard, just invite over your best friend. That’s all this has to be. Just text him that you want to hang out. Yeah, you don’t have to make this a big deal.”
He picks up his phone and opens the message with Argyle. The last message staring him in the face.
Argyle: Love you, bro, get some sleep
Jonathan shuts the phone off again, gripping it tight while the other hand presses into his eye. “Fucking Nancy, making me do this. Just message him, it’s not that hard. Not like sharing my feelings is the hardest thing for me at all.”
He looks at the phone in his hand again before tossing it on his bed, falling down next to it.
“I’ve got to admit, that was kinda sad,” Will says, leaning on his doorway.
“I’m not in the mood right now, Will. How long have you been standing there anyway?”
Will pushes off the doorway and enters the room. “Long enough to see you muttering to yourself like mom.” He sits next to Jonathan, picking up the discarded phone and placing it in Jonathan’s hand. “What’s going on?”
Jonathan takes a deep breath. “Nancy and I made this stupid bet. If she did this thing then,” he pauses, taking another breath and deciding to bite the bullet. “Then I would have to tell Argyle how I feel.”
“Wait like,” Will looks confused, but not at all shocked.”
“Yeah,” he nods.
“I fucking knew it,” Will breathes.
“Hey, language.” Jonathan smacks him in the arm lightly.
Will laughs. “Sorry. It’s just, me and El thought that something was up between you two for weeks now.”
“What did we think?” El pops up in the doorway, holding a box of something
“That Jonathan has a crush on Argyle,” Will fills in before Jonathan can say anything.
El’s face lights up with a big smile. “Stay right there.” She runs out of the doorway, appearing seconds later without the box in her hands, her short curls bouncing as she plops down on the bed. She looks at him expectantly, lips pressed together in excitement.
