At the ending of Shadow of Kyoshi, Jianzhu's personal form of earth-bending was said to liquify the stone, and I love that, because of course! He was Kuruk's, a waterbending avatar's first companion and he agreed with Kuruk on all the elements being connected, so they probably learned each others stances and incorporated each others fighting styles into their own.

In little corner of fandom that talks about Jianzhu, I have seen joked how much he doesn't care or is abusive towards Yun, while I have read the book all the way through, I think it's a little....fanon, in parts.

Jianzhu in canon had no trouble saying he cared for Yun.

I loved this whole section, because it could have been easy to make Jianzhu obsessed mentor who didn't let him do anything but train so he's more evil. But it's specifically said Yun learned from other people too besides Jianzhu, and Yun learning politics is freaking smart on Jianzhu's part, because yes that's a skill Yun would need.

..If Jianzhu didn't care about Yun, he would have left once father worm-spirit declared Kyoshi avatar. But he stayed, turned around and was ready for a fight. But the spirit just left with Yun.

I keep being surprised by fandom and tv tropes's dissonance over what actually happens in the book. Jianzhu literally didn't leave Yun to die.
