First Meetings
The fire crackled as a soft breeze blew past.
A group of four battle-worn individuals sat idly around the flame.
After a while, a long furred creature broke the silence.
"W-What's your biggest fear?"
The question seemed to be targeted at no-one in particular. An ice-beaker maybe?
A tall scaly figure leaned against a nearby rock scoffed
"What kind of question is that?"
"I simply t-thought it would be a good idea for us to get to know each other, y-y'know, since we are going to be working together now?"
The muscled creature seemed to have a refute but pointedly did not comment. A tense silence enveloped the group once more.
Another cold draft blew before the third member of the group spoke up.
"If we want to get to know each other why don't we start with something simpler? Like our names?"
This suggestion seemed to go over much easier than the first.
"Okay then, since I suggested it it only makes sense that I go first. I am Friea Fio Gilderstein, a Mestielle. Feel free to address me however you wish"
A sharp reply came "Mindorensis. A Croiser."
"O-oh, it's my turn, I am Myla, a Quirrel, nice to meet you!"

All heads turned to the only one who had yet to introduce themselves. They seemed to be examining their leg.
"Ahem..."
Friea let out a small cough that seemed to snap them back to attention.
"Ah right, introductions. I am Ava, a human, a pleasure to meet you all"
Ava let out a small grin before wincing.
"D-do you need help with that?"
Ava looked down at her bleeding leg before her eyes drifted back up to meet Myla's.
"... yea, some help would be nice. You wouldn't happen to know how to stitch up a cut would you?"
Without a word Myla got up and moved close to where Ava sat.
"L-let me"
Not even waiting for an answer Myla brought out some tools from the bag slung across her chest. She quickly got to work cleaning and disinfecting the wound.
By the time she was done everyone seemed to be staring at her.
"O-oh, did i do something wrong? Does it hurt?"
Ava gave a short laugh before replying.
"No it's okay, I guess I just wasn't expecting you to be so good at it"
"I must admit, neither was I"
Mindorensis didn't make any comment asides from a small grunt.
Another draft blew through the camp
"Brrr-, I think we should go to bed now, its getting chilly." Ava said shivering
"Yes, I agree it is getting quiet cold but we haven't discussed who will take the first shift."
"I-I could take first w-watch if that is okay with you"
"Oh great! Knock yourself out!"
With that Ava retreated back into their makeshift tent, closely followed by Friea.
Mindorensis lingered behind for a bit before eventually also choosing to retire for the night.
Myla was left all alone in the desert like place they had found themselves. She looked to the sky to see the beautiful sight of stars, moons and planets intermingling in the dark nigh sky.
"A-ah right, the view of the night sky on this p-planet is said to be absolutely breath-taking"
She stood up to make her way to a particularly tall rock. She slithered on top of it and got her herself comfortable. She could easily see the whole camp and then some from up here. It was the perfect place for a lookout.
Even as cold winds continued to blow and she eventually got off her shift, she couldn't help but feel a sort of tranquil peace with the new group she had found.
Hopefully things would continue to be this nice, though she wasn't sure how plausible that would be with their line of work.
Still it was a nice thought to have.
